Once upon a time it was racers, tourers, shoppers and district-nurse. The racers and tourers had Weinmann brakes with downtube friction shifters. They had Sachs Heuret gears with different size cassettes. The shoppers and district-nurses had Sturmey.

Jond, you need to update you Huge garage of bikes!!!!I see front mech adjustment especially on non standard rings eg 60 tooth hurricane as a nice challenge.
Only on off camber extreme rough roads might the chain do a runner but never with a type 2 clutched rear mech.
