    Silvio 2.0 vs Bacchetta Corsa

Hotfoot I used to get hotfoot on the Bacchetta CA2, but not on the Silvio 1.5 or the Lightning P38, and I attribute this to the lower BB. It ahs something to do with the seat also, but I can't quite decide what. I gave up the CA2 because I disliked the high BB and the seat.

chain jumping from small ring to large ring all by itself while climbing up hill

Chain jumping Jumping from small to large ring is very weird, as this usually requires considerable increase in cable tension to achieve it during normal shifting. Dropping back can occur quite easily if there isn't enough cable tension to hold the chain on the larger ring. You can...

    [SOLD] Silvio 1.5 for sale

SOLD I realize I never updated this thread; the bike sold in the spring.

    back problem

Re: Tangent - Traction and Posture I think it is relevant in the sense that it relates to the shape of the seat. Many recumbents, for example, the Bacchetta carbon and euromesh seats are banana shaped which does not promote good posture, at least according to the Gokhale method that you refer...

    High speed steering help...

The opposing view At the risk of offending the Zen CZ masters... Yes, there is something fundamental about the design causes the effect you experienced. The front end is heavy and any input that might cause the wheel to change direction, e.g., like spinning your feet backwards, will cause...

    Silvio 2.0 Hub Sizes

Re 130 disk hubs Sorry, missed the hub part and got fixated on the dynamo on the rear. What I had meant do say was that the dropout widths are standard non-disk road bike for the 1.5. I had forgotten that the 2.0 has the disk brake option and CZ are unusual in not going to 135. For example I...

    Silvio 2.0 Hub Sizes

Hub sizes Since no existing 2.0 owner has replied, I can tell you that the 1.5 has standard 130mm spacing so unless the 2.0 has disk brake support, which would typically be 135, it's probably the same. I used my Mavic Open Pro with SON 28R in the rear. A bit of a hassle getting the cable to...

    How much to buy?

Re: Couldn't one say that the Understood, but the thread started with Tigertoo saying "I like the idea of a front wheel drive bent." and "All thoughts and comments welcome please.". I too liked the "idea", which is why I bought one, but there is a big difference between theory and practice...

    How much to buy?

Still Dreaming/LEL As someone who rides a lot of Brevets and did PBP in 2011, I'm not sure why you are so worried about a 200K in 9 hours! My best time ever is right on 9 hours. I've done a 200/300/400 series this year on a Bacchetta Aero and it got my speed back to where I was a few years back...

options to make bike more visible to on coming traffic in foggy weather?

Hi vis One of my fellow San Francisco Randonneurs has really been pushing high visibility over the past couple of years, after two of our colleagues were killed by drivers hitting them from behind. We do a fair amount of night riding, but It's important to be visible in all conditions. You are...

    What's Your Crank Length?

Varying crank length The received wisdom seems to be that you should run shorter cranks on a 'bent compared to a DF bike, because it helps you spin at a higher cadence, which is supposed to be a good thing. However, as we know, some people are spinners and some are mashers and it's not at all...

    Elliptical Chainrings and Gearing

Ellipticals I was planning to install Q-rings on my Silvio before I decided to sell it. I'm running 53-39-25 Rotor rings and 11/32 SRAM X-9 on my Bacchetta Aero, with an Ultegra FD, which has a longish cage; necessary for such a wide gear range. I'll probably install the same setup on the...

    Selling Silvio

Silvio Sold After riding the Bacchetta and the Silvio in parallel for a month, I decided to sell the Silvio after all. The upper body stress from the micro-corrections of the pedal steer was ultimately the deciding factor. The bike is now sold. It's been a fun experience, even if it didn't...

    Brainbox on Silvio

Corrected and seat thoughts I stand well corrected. I made that statement based on a memory of some pictures where it looked like the bag was well over the seat. Cruzbike definitely win the ergonomic seat design for me. Mostly flat as our backs are supposed to be. I'm not sure I'm going to...

    Brainbox on Silvio

Snugging it Good point Eric, I'd forgotten about the wide strap (usually only needed on Bacchetta Recurve seats). I thought the Vendetta seat was more accomodating of these bags regardless of the headrest as there is less obstruction begind the seat than on a Silvio.
