Records Will Fall

Hey all - maybe most of you saw in the email - but if you did not, here is a good one to follow along with:

Henri

Hope he's done soon. I'm really annoyed with all this for quite a while already. Couldn't care any less for some guy riding his bike a bit faster than the other guys. I'm just following the socials for information about new products and such.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(Yeah yeah, I' going back to being quiet now. Just had to vent once.)

If my S40 is anything to go by his hardest problem will be keeping from falling asleep. Good luck to him. I've never been one for competitive stuff but I see endurance feats like this as a battle with yourself.

I give Matthew Lefthand very good odds. The V20c is a very comfortable speed demon. With adequate conditioning, nutrition and support, It is then a matter of mind over body.

Apparently the current record holder did his run on an upright!!!

A TT bike. Nutter. Doubt I'd last 7 min on one of those.

This is turning into a nail biter.
Huge comeback after pausing the ride and switching to a different course.
Amazing ride.

I follow him on FB. I was a little confused with the status. He was going to stop; but then he started biking to different route the following days. Is that what's going on?

Huge number of miles. Very amazing.

I am not sure if Matthew is human or AI humanoid robot - a literal riding machine. It is looking like he will top the record if he just keeps the pace he is at.

The bonus - I just about expect him to do it and then casually get off the bike and do a stretch. Incredible effort.

Cruzbike leadership made a great move approaching Lefty with the V20c. With his engine it’s safe to say he would have done great things on other performance recumbents that try to compete in the same class as the V20c but he’s putting the records so far out of reach on a Cruzbike, everyone else will be fighting for 2nd place. Chapeau!

While it is no mean feat, I noticed that there is not a lot of climbing (elevation gain) in the chosen route compared to the distance.
How was this in comparison with the upright bike?

I think anyone that goes for a highest mileage record does it on the flattest route they can find. For example, the highest annual mileage record (an astonishing 86,537 miles!) was set on a circuit in Florida that was flat as a pancake.

Edited to add: and I couldn't come anywhere close to Matthew's record on a dead flat, straight road with a 50 MPH tailwind!

McCormack’s route along the Moselle river was chosen for its proximity to Canyon’s headquarters - and its flatness: Brouter gives 100 m of elevation over the 75 km. Negligible.
