Couple of questions (fork + triangle bracket)

I searched the forums and saw a post from Doug that said the idea with the bracket is to use the hole that lets the brace piece sit as flat as possible against the fork, unless the fork dropouts interfere with the angle of the bracket. On mine, the inner hole would be good, but the dropouts...

Other questions Thanks for that link to the search page, but none of those threads actually seem to show pictures of the installation process, just the adapter itself. Wikipedia came through with this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stem_(bicycle_part)#Quill_stems which seems to make it...

Here's the bike I ended up going with...aluminum frame and less "it just randomly fell apart and I almost died" reviews than the $90 one. ;) The kit has arrived as well, and I'm starting my shopping for things I need, just wanted to double-check with you guys. Here's the crank...

    Shopping for Donors Again

I guess I'll try the first I guess I'll try the first one at Kmart that's really low - if my knees and the fork don't play well together, I'd have some room to put a spacer in the "V" and raise the seat up a bit while still having it lower than the wheel tops. Failing that, I can always return...

Heights I'm 6'0" (200 lbs and falling). On the Amazon one , the part of the crossbar where the seat base goes (if I'm understanding things correctly) actually looks *lower* than the tops of the tires, I thought that's what we're shooting for here? -Dave

    Shopping for Donors Again

My interest in the conversion kit has re-kindled recently...all this weirdly warm weather, probably. Looking at this one: http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_080W123770110001P?sid=KDx20070926x00003a&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=080W123770110001 Cheap, and a ridiculously low flat-ish...

Looking for an inexpensive, easy donor

Actually, you've got it Actually, you've got it pretty close to right. Cool! 2. Headtube-to-seat tube distance long enough to allow proper seat recline. Are there any figures for this, or is it a "it depends" kind of thing? I can't find any actual measurements on the site...

But then that would reduce or But then that would reduce or even negate the "super low" benefit of that bike, which brings me back to my original question - what are the priorities for a donor bike? What factor is most important, then 2nd most, 3rd, 4th, etc, etc - in terms of crossbar height...

Looking for an inexpensive, easy donor

My plan is to buy something I can use normally while I save up for the kit. I have no intention to ride anywhere but paved roads, before or after conversion. So, I'm looking for some guidance on a bike that is (ideally) under $200 and fine for casual use, but will work well with the kit, and me...
