Chain coming off e-ring of Quest 2

Well, it's been 2 years now, and not a single chain drop once I installed the Jumpstop. And it looks like an original part of the bike. Very happy with it, and recommend it to anyone having chain drops. One less thing to worry about.

    First Ride - Seat improvement

After my first tour on my Quest 2.0, I found the seat cushion to be too thin/soft for my 215 pounds, and not as comfortable as my old Rans Rocket. I also wanted more legroom (the boom was almost all the way out), so I solved both problems by adding a slab of closed-cell stiff foam. (It's often...

    Quest 451 packing time...

My packing time for my Q2 was My packing time for my Q2 was about 90 minutes at first, but it's about an hour now. Same for unpacking. I might be able to do it faster, but I'm the cautious type. The only problem I've run into on reassembly is a slightly bent hub-gear pin on the front...

    Tires for the Quest

Durano 451 I replaced the stock tires (mine were Kenda, I think) after a couple of flats. All my bikes have flat-resistant tires (Schwalbe Marathon Supremes are my favourites). No Supremes available in 451, so I got the Schwalbe Durano. Compared to the stock tires, these are lighter...

    pannier rack needed for quest

I have used the Topeak MTX I have used the Topeak MTX BeamRack (E-Type) on my Quest, along with the optional side frame for panniers. As you can see in the picture, the panniers end up just behind the rear axle, with some clearance for the disk brake. As is my experience with other...

Chain coming off e-ring of Quest 2

pilot error + chain guide Well, the constant drops turned out to be pilot error - that is, when I last fixed a flat on the front wheel, I managed to put the lefthand thick washer on the inside of the fork, offsetting the front wheel to the left and increasing the chain angle = lots of chain...

Chain coming off e-ring of Quest 2

or add a chain guide? Just occurred to me that my Dahon folder has a plastic chain guide that prevents the chain from dropping to the inside. Wonder if some version of that would prevent chain drops on the Quest. But would the elliptical e-ring make that problematic?

Chain coming off e-ring of Quest 2

dropping chain on Quest 451 I have the same problem with my Quest 2.0 451. I drop the chain (to the inside, onto the crank axle) an average of once an hour. It's not hard to put back on, but it's irritating and makes me nervous about ALL my shifts - not the best way to relax on a ride. At...

    Nice pannier/pack for Quest

panniers and underseat bags Just spent a few weeks touring with my new Quest 2.0. I'm planning on writing a full review, but some quick comments on racks, panniers, and bags: The default Quest rack is OK for rack-top bags (I assume), but I needed to mount panniers, so I replaced it with a...

    Quest 2.0 in a suitcase - questions

re: suitcase Billy, thanks for the tips about the weather and winds. I haven't done my research on that ride yet, so could change my route, but cool with a north semi-tailwind sounds good to me. ;^) Kim, good idea to find used suitcases just in time. Don't relish the idea of taking...

    Quest 2.0 in a suitcase - questions

re: suitcase Hi John, thanks for that info. Sounds like it's pretty close to my Dahon (28 lbs), which when packed with other bike junk and clothes, comes close to the 23 kg limit. So I'll just have to transfer a few things to my carry-on to stay under the weight limit. Just checked...

    Quest 2.0 in a suitcase - questions

I'm interested in a recumbent that packs into a suitcase for travel, hence my interest in the Quest 2. This would be for overseas travel. I like the suitcase idea instead of a bike box because: - It avoids the airline charge for bikes (which can add up on multi-segment flights). - When...
