Perhaps you could consider politely waiting for the Facebook Local Haters to pass away. A wave and a smile is always a good thing.

Has anyone tried a CruzBike "fixie?"

Fixies, as far as I know, are popular with messengers in towns. Since there are no brakes, derailleurs, cables or freewheel to maintain or fail, a fixie is dependable. Also, messengers are fearless. One day, the cable to my rear derailleur broke, limiting me to two top gears. That taught me how...

FCN calculator for Cruzbikes (Silly Commuter Racing - ItsNotARace.org)

Let's see, so my Sofrider V1 starts out at 9. It's obviously modified -and it shows- so now it's up to 10. The seat recline varies from 30Deg. down to 18Deg., so now... it's back down to 9. On flat roads and downhill, it's faster than my stock(ish) Vendetta 1.5. Now it's 1.75, a quarter-point...

    Getting Off the Fence

The only time a front tire went flat on the Sofrider, when pushing hard uphill: The tire deflated quickly and smoothly when the tube was pierced by a brown flake of a discarded, broken beer bottle. Suddenly, it was much more difficult to pedal! Shifted down, looked for debris in the brake...

    Getting Off the Fence

The front tire deflated and this, combined with the effort of pushing your bike uphill, caused the accident. The rear wheel is fine. The facts are what they are and your conclusions are based on what you felt, not on the facts. Check your front wheel for sharp bits, check the tire liner, the...

Bikism Is For Real; starting over again

Group rides are for riders who ride in groups. The common word among all riders is "ride." Ride on!

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Waxed the Sofrider V1 chain. So much work....

Look out here come the Chinese

Nice work. As far as I know, my Cruzbike frames were manufactured in Taiwan and, probably yours were too.

    Helmets with visors

This looks like the Winter helmet I wear. The BMX helmet is too warm for the warmer months but in many many ways it is my favourite helmet. The chin bar makes this the most aerodynamic as well as the most protective helmet I own, by far. It also deflects the slipstream over my glasses. Did you...

6-12-24 Hour World Time Trial Championships Perez vs the World

Rider #187 looks like he's as reclined as my Sofrider... and, if he's anything like me, he's both very comfortable and his breathing is easy. And, yeah: He's more aero than Jason for sure... but everyone knows who had the better motor! Congratulations, J.P.!

    1up indoor trainer fitting?

Mount the bike with the resistance drum/flywheel behind the front tire. Between you and the wheel. Not in front; not under your feet. I have posted which skewer I used already... do the work and search.

    RojoRacing Video edits

Hey, Jason, thanks for sharing. Your lines were very familiar and comforting to watch. Identifying with the kinetics and physics and skill-set was a real pleasure. No: "No! That's not it!" It was all: "Yes. Of course. That's it." It's got to be nice to have your pedals and feet out from under...

    Big Speed Increase

-Pretend you're reading this on the first of April- Save weight; go even faster: It's a lot of work, but so worth it. Disassemble your headset, wheel hubs, cassette and freewheel assembly, bottom bracket and pedals. Remove all of the bearings and degrease them all very thoroughly. Treat all...

Helmet for Casual, Everyday Riding: Yes or No?

Be careful applying your brakes hard going downhill on your Sofrider. Hard downhill braking is where your bike is most likely to become a pure unicycle. I know this from personal experience! As a former motorcycle test rider, a lot of my fun comes from exploring the limits of the two-wheeler...

    Looking for Purchasing Advice

Unless you really want to become hopelessly addicted to the Cruzbike experience, avoid any contact with the bicycles, the authorized dealers, the company or the people. Maria Parker and Robert Holler were both efficient and friendly, enabling my terminal addiction to my Cruzbikes.

    New S 40 build

If you have a hill with a gravel or other 'off-road' surface to practice on, do yourself a favour and practice pedaling up that hill. Your pedaling, cadence and power delivery will benefit as your technique improves. FWD will alway slip way before RWD will up hills -especially slippery hills.
