New to me Qx100 with handlebar mod

Those bars look a bit narrow for me--that's less than 18" inside to inside. I suspect I'd be introducing thigh interference. Thank you for your kind offer, though!

New to me Qx100 with handlebar mod

Which size (reach and width) bar is that? I want to replace the stock bar on my Q, and I've been considering Bacchetta and Volae bars. That looks like it will do exactly what I want, which is to get the trigger shifters away from my knees.

    Legs too short to flintstone

Theoretically, yes; but having different sized wheels changes the trail, and quickens the steering. At least according to this post on BROL from seven years ago. That whole thread is a good read. I tried riding mine once with the 451 front/507 rear. I noticed a slight difference in the...

    Thoughts on Microshift?

I barely remember watching it--or more accurately, watching the title sequence with all the doors--in its original run, when I was about 5 years old. Much better in reruns, when I was old enough to get the satire.

    crash advice

Glad you weren't hurt worse! It would be a good idea to see a doctor, if you haven't already, to document the injuries. You did file a police report, didn't you?

    Quest 451 to 507

True. I wouldn't want to go any further forward than emeljay has his, for that reason and for the seat-pan tilt. I went back in the thread and saw my photo of the Q next to the Silvio 1.5, with their matching seat angles and seat-pan placement. I didn't try to make the Q match the S; I had the Q...

    Quest 451 to 507

That's a thought. I don't remember why I chose that particular position, other than not wanting to be too close to the steering mast, and trying to get the seat angle somewhere around 45 degrees. I might have to experiment with that this weekend.

    Quest 451 to 507

I had wondered if a straight bar would raise the hands too much. I want to move the grips to more of a "handshake" position, which would move the levers away from my knees, while keeping the distance between the bottom of the grips similar to what it is now. I'm considering something like a...

    Quest 451 to 507

Another reason I replaced my stock right-hand-only DualDrive shifter, besides not really liking it, was that it protruded so far down that my right knee would frequently bump into it, say when pushing hard up a hill or making a turn. Over 20 or 30 miles, those little bumps add up to a bruise the...

    2017 Race and Event Season

I realized today that we probably have enough Cruzbikers within driving distance for a meet-up that Friday night or Saturday afternoon, if y'all are interested. Besides @ReklinedRider and me, my son will be there riding my Q, unless his senior retreat is scheduled for that weekend. @trapdoor2...

If I can build up an S30, so can you

I hung on to my road bike for almost three years after buying the Q451, thinking once I got the hang of the Cruzbike thing, eventually the "new" would wear off and I'd split time between road bike and CB, the way I had between road bike and tadpole trike. Never happened. I didn't touch the road...

If I can build up an S30, so can you

I got the Q with the little wheels, thinking the Silvio and Vendetta would surely be too fast and too reclined for me ever to handle. (And the Q was on sale.) After 6 months or so on the Q, I began to wonder if maybe I could manage a Silvio 1.5...and Kline and I, who live in adjacent counties...

If I can build up an S30, so can you

I own the Quest 451 2.0, bought new in 2014, and the Silvio S30 that this thread discusses. Modified the Q451 a year or so ago--click on 507 in my signature if you want details. Had a Silvio 1.5 for a couple of years (frameset purchased from @ReklinedRider in 2015) along with the Q, until I...

If I can build up an S30, so can you

That would be him, then. I found a photo on the UMMC web site. Toward the end of lunch at RideSouth that Saturday at the rally, a couple of us were giving test rides on our Cruzbikes (a black Silvio 2.1 and my Q451) in front of the shop. Did you try one out then?

If I can build up an S30, so can you

Out-and-back group ride from Madison to Canton. He didn't tell me his name. I was so surprised that someone knew what a Cruzbike was--especially since I hadn't noticed any other recumbents on the ride--that I forgot to ask. I just looked up the "Painless in Flowood" recumbent rally report from...
