    Shapeways 3D Printing

3D printing gives amateurs an opportunity to make professional-looking bits. Mounts for lights, cameras and other things specifically for various CruzBikes might be nice and useful. For example, I'm not really happy with any of my camera mounts. The ball head tripod mount I've got is kind of...

You see the light at the end of the tunnel... keep going! For inspiration, read Jason's (RojoRacing) The Road to 500 miles in 24hrs thread. Last September, Jason, a very strong endurance mountain biker, received a Vendetta with the goal to ride 500 miles in a 24 hour race... in November. He...

Well, that's as cross-chained as you can get, so no surprise... In small-small cross-chaining you can get some rubbing of the chain with the big chainring

That appears to be an FSA Team Issue 10 Speed Chain (Model CN-910N) with an FSA Drive Link Connector 10-Speed (Model CN-LINK-10). According to the web page, the CN-LINK-10 is a "Single use connecting link". It appears you ought to keep one in your on-bike tool-kit in case you need to remove a...

I suspect you'll need to say what chain you've got, or take a picture of the master link.

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

You're improving on at least three axis: you're getting better at road biking, you're getting more attuned to the bike, and you've been tuning the bike to be better for you. Congrats and here's to continuing improvement.

Also, many Samsung and Sony phones support the ANT+ standard used by many wireless sensors (speed/cadence/heart rate/power). Some apps mentioned by ratz can take advantage of some of those sensors. I use the ipBike bike computer app which uploads to many of the online services and supports a...

What did you discovered about your Cruzbike today

Perhaps the tights were too tight/not stretchy enough around the knees?

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

If you want to try making your own covers, a similar but not the same material from a US source. However, this won't save you money unless you can use the rest of the material, minimum order size is 54" x 1 yard. This fabric is used on the interior of the US Army Improved Outer Tactical Vest...

Some people have tried and given up. However, I believe almost anyone who can ride a DF bike can learn to ride a CruzBike, though it might take several months to get comfortable enough to ride in traffic and other more difficult situations. I, perhaps foolishly, was riding on multi-use paths...

You're doing well! For awhile I had a water bottle mounted on my stem which made getting a drink much easier than getting to the bottle mounts behind my back. You may be able to do something similar and mount a bottle on your front boom.

    2016 Calvin's Challenge video

I'd have to say you're a pretty darn fit old man on a fast bike. (I just checked the 2015 results so now I know you're not an old man to me... I've got barely a decade on you!)

    2016 Calvin's Challenge video

I don't think I've seen it mentioned anywhere, so was Billy on the same lap as you? I tried to check the race results but the 12-hour results pdf (linked from facebook) is 404 for me.

I'm impressed how patient some new riders are. I was trail riding after about a half dozen rides even if my control was probably a lot worse it should have been. For maybe a week of trail riding I had to stop to get at a water bottle since I couldn't ride one handed without swerving around...

    2016 Calvin's Challenge - who's going??

Good going everyone at Calvin's Challenge, CruzBikers and otherwise. If I rode for 12 hours... actually, I don't think I can ride for 12 hours, but my last long ride I averaged just under 10 mph (real time).

Anyone try OneUP 40T or 42T Cassette Sprocket?

That's tougher than my personal tough slog (as in a climb I've actually done), climbing the north side of Dickey Ridge at Shenandoah National Park (the first climb going south on Skyline Drive), 1500 feet in 5.7 miles. The video I posted a few weeks ago is descending the south side of Dickey Ridge.

    what to wear?

I wear whatever exercise clothing I feel like instead of padded bike shorts. Yoga shorts are actually pretty good, since they're spandexy close fitting so don't flap around in the wind, though you'll probably have to go looking in the women's sportswear department, men's yoga clothing is pretty...

    Vendetta V20 Build diary 2016

I used my Mobius for about a year of riding. The built-in ~750 mAH battery is only good for about 70-80 minutes, but it's trivial to power it from any USB power bank. I've got a 6" right angle mini USB to right angle USB cable and a roughly 6000 mAH power bank that fits in a Topeak bag intended...

What's on your feet - talking cycle shoes

As a long time Keen footwear user, I was tempted to actually order Keen cycling shoes. But when I was looking they had phased out all of their old models and everywhere were essentially out of stock, and the new model was not quite available. super slim, you've got it backwards, Keens are...
