Chain WAXing (yes it's that easy) - and other mysteries of this art!

My opinion of waxing after experiencing it and after being skeptical: 1) it's clean 2) it's inexpensive 3) it's really easy 4) it works amazingly well.

    What gear?

I don't find it to be a problem because I can use any cog with either chainring. I just shift however I need to shift with no worries.

    Cruzbike is a class act

We had a Fred join our LBS A ride one night last year. He was asking me questions such as if we were going to do a double pace line. He was on a 50-pound comfort bike with maybe up to 3 gears. By the way he was talking, I was starting to wonder if he was super human or a cyborg. Then we crossed...

    Seat Mod

Here are the dimensions from my large Volae seat. Note that A (the shoulder area) tapers from 230 at the lower area to 150 at the top or neck area). A: 230 - 150 mm. B: 230 mm. C: 288 mm. D: 765 mm. E: 910 mm.

    Seat Mod

Just to add some reference information, I have the large Volae seat from the Hostel Shop, the Ventisit seat pad, and the ADEM headrest on my Vendetta. I'm 5'-9.5" with a 42.5" x-seam. Once I got the headrest adjusted correctly (which was not simple) I have had no problems with comfort. Also, I...

Vendetta versus Silvio on less-than-ideal road surfaces

Larry, this is what works for me. I'm 5'9.5" and 168 pounds. I still have probably 5 pounds to go before I'm at my ideal college wrestling weight. You might already be doing this, but if not, here are some ideas to consider. Lose 0.5 to 1 pound per week max. Weigh in every day and average your...

    Recumbent Newbie

Short cranks feel better in my opinion. The smaller pedal circles feel more natural. But there is no advantage or disadvantage in the gearing because you have more than one gear. But short cranks will shift your highest and lowest gears a little in the bigger gear direction. And it will do it by...

    Recumbent Newbie

You can take them to your local tool shop. It can cut and drill your cranks. That's what I did with my trainer bike's cranks. And if your local tool shop doesn't have the right taps, you can get the new holes tapped at your local bike shop, which probably has taps for fixing cranks with screwed...

    Recumbent Newbie

I use short cranks (150 mm) and elliptical chainrings (Q-rings). I convinced myself that there is an advantage through experimentation and by riding with the chainrings out 0f tune. The effect was noticeable in a bad way. I surmised through extrapolation that there must be a positive effect...

Vendetta versus Silvio on less-than-ideal road surfaces

I ride a Vendetta. Rog let me ride his Silvio around the parking lot, so I went over a recessed manhole cover a few times to test the smoothness. I found the Silvio was a little smoother on something like that, which is a regular occurrence in the real world.

    Carbon Fiber Fun

I want to get on the list for a carbon fiber Vendetta tailbox. Can I get one by next weekend? I know it will look cool because the headrest looks professional. Nice work Rick! You've outdone yourself.

    Curved slider

I never thought about the sweat, but that could be a problem now that you mention it. I wonder if there is a way to get a Ventisit pad to cover the entire seat and neckrest to solve the sweat problem.

    Headache from riding V

I should have been more clear. I used a rubber block between the butt of the seat and the frame. There are more rubber blocks further back. The bolts just keep everything in place. As you can see, the bolts have much less leverage on the wings than there would be by using the standard holes...

    Headache from riding V

Snilard, I use a Volae seat, Ventisit pad, and ADEM headrest, and I did not have to drill the frame to mount the seat. I did have to drill one hole each in the two "wings" that stick out to the left and right of the frame at the bottom (forward) area, under where my butt goes, due to the design...
