    Cruzbike S40 in Nairobi, Kenya!

Yes, but even a strong rider like Andrew gets caught on the uphill.

    Fairings! Does anyone use Fairings!

Sure. I live in NE Seattle. This should be possible on a weekend soon. But I'm going on a work trip through Thanksgiving weekend, so not till after that. Message me again in early December and we should be able to work something out. What do you ride?

    Q45 handlebars on a v20

Hi @cruzKurt . I have a set of bars from a first-gen (2018) Q45. See photos. I had to get different bars because my knees kept hitting these (actually just barely touching but it was distracting). These have been buried deep in my garage. They're like new. The only thing I'd really need them...

    New homemade fairing for Quest

Hmmm … not sure what happened. That was 5 years ago and they apparently didn’t survive the move of this forum to the new site. Here’s a more recent photo, a pandemic meet-up of two faired CBs. https://forum.cruzbike.com/threads/cruzbike-ppe-two-versions.13463/ Also to note, this thread is...

    Fairings! Does anyone use Fairings!

Good points, @Doug Burton and @JOSEPHWEISSERT . I haven't been close enough to a big truck to feel any suction, but will be careful in the future. And I mostly ride on urban streets where the traffic isn't very fast. I will say that I don't mind riding near trucks and buses, because these...

    Fairings! Does anyone use Fairings!

A few comments on stuff said above: I have more than 10k miles of riding a CB with a fairing (Q45, and before that a QX100 ... and before that some more thousands on a Rans Rocket and a BikeE). It's my much-used raingear as a year round Seattle commuter. Kind of a necessity in the winter in...

extending slider to fit reveals bad finish; remedy?

Nice! I found some orange tape that matches my 2018 Q45, and decorate several parts with it. Stripes along the fenders and etc. Also protects the paint where it might rub (lock mount). Plus, when you're parked with a bunch of other V's, you'll immediately be able to pick yours out of the...

Securing Boom Arm to Frame so Twist and Fall Doesn't Happen !

Ok. I missed that part. But for reference, the kickstand that came with my (1st-gen, 2018) Q45 is 16.4 inches long, pivot point to tip. All that said, the reality of these bikes is that they're not as easy to lock up as a DF. One part of that is that many racks, like the ones you find in front...

Securing Boom Arm to Frame so Twist and Fall Doesn't Happen !

If you're using the band (or some other solution that holds the front wheel straight) then the weight will be far forward. That makes it less likely that a kickstand by the rear wheel will hold it up. For instance, the CB kickstand I mentioned above won't hold my Q45 unless the front wheel is...

Securing Boom Arm to Frame so Twist and Fall Doesn't Happen !

It depends on how long it is. The Q45 comes with (or used to) a very long kickstand that mounts to the plate between the rear wheel arms. Then you turn the front towards the other side of the bike, centering the weight. It works well. Check if CB sells this kickstand. They will have tested it...

To V20c as a lifelong DF roadie

One reason some people "despise" cruzbikes is the learning curve. They didn't give it enough time (or didn't commit to it), couldn't handle feeling like a kid just learning to ride his first bike, and gave up. Then they need to put down those of us who did learn it. And I for one enjoyed doing...

    Peeing

Sorry, @cpml123, @Beano 's hypothesis rings truer (but I know nothing about it myself, maybe it's just his two dollar words). And @bladderhead , if your head is lowest then even on a V20 it means you're climbing a 20 degree slope. Color me impressed. I have not noticed the pee situation...

    I'll just hop that curb!

Huh! I would have said tires. Could you be more specific, please? What characteristics of wheels have what effects?

    I'll just hop that curb!

Q's, too. I can easily lift my rear wheel with a too-hard pull on the front brake (dry weather, good surface). The better modulation is why I like disk brakes. (Well, also how much cleaner they are: no brakepad gunk all over my wheels ... and hands). I think the EU safety standard is that the...

seat angle adj. 2022 Q45; shock creaking

Never used the Rockshox so I can't compare directly, but many here have used the Kind shock A5 RR1. See lots of discussion here over the years. It's possible some are better but the Kind has three things going for it: - Very light - Very cheap - Easy to tune the positive and negative chambers to...

    Q-45 test ride

I think the word would be "kludge". Maybe "contraption". I was very worried about cracking the fiberglass by pressing it against a metal edg, so it has a lot of rubber gasket material. Overkill, I think. One result is that it's not adjustable, and I kind of wish I'd made it just a bit more...

    Q-45 test ride

Also in Seattle (NE part of the city, pretty urban). I have a first-gen Q45 (2018) with fairly low gears for hill climbing. You pretty much can't go very far here without going up hills. The trick is to find the ones with good long unobstructed downhill runs to make it worth it. Also I have...

    Alchemy?

Yes. I did a roll-down test with a roadie friend once on a quarter-mile hill. We came up to the top at the same slow speed, then let both bikes roll freely. He was in his lowest crouch, I sat normally. I beat him to the bottom by a few feet. And tires! In my experience higher pressure tires do...

    Alchemy?

Only ride downhill? It seems to me that if you're focused on speed, and given the helpful calculations by @cpml123 above showing what the Q mods would cost, then you should just get an S40. Then you'd also have a lighter bike. The Q has its niche that it serves very well. For my...

Compressionless housing from Jagwire - huge difference

I read this thread with interest since I also have TRP Spyres (with the original cable housings on my Q45). But my rear brake seems pretty useless since it locks up very quickly, especially downhill. In any hard stop the weight is thrown forward enough that the rear wheel has little traction...
