    Q45 fender help

Never having seen a this-year's Q45, I have nothing to contribute to this discussion but ... I am deeply impressed that your spouse lets you bring a bicycle into the living room and mess with it on the rug!!! White rug, too! That would never happen in my house, I can tell you that. I would...

The new Q45 is getting ready to show up in the wild...

@cpml123 Something to consider with a very large sprocket is how fast you'll be going in the very low gear. On a really steep hill I'm down around 4.3mph in lowest gear. Seems like you might have trouble balancing much slower than that. I already feel like I'm spinning pretty fast at that speed...

The new Q45 is getting ready to show up in the wild...

I ride a first gen Q45 with more than 5k miles, almost entirely commuting and errands in Seattle. I climb a 250ft hill every day on my way home. I replaced the chainring with a 36T oval (sprockets are 11-42) and have no problem climbing. Well, steeper than 10° and I start to slip, especially if...

makeshift work stands for q 45

A regular work stand is fine for the Q45 if the clamp opens wide enough for the boom tube. You want it to hold the bike high enough so the rear wheel is lower (or resting on the ground). Else the rear of the bike will want to swing around.

    New Q45 coming....

This thread is so long that it's possible I posted this info previously! I'm on my phone so it's too hard to scroll through 4 pages of posts, sorry. As a daily commuter in rainy Seattle, I use two rear fenders on my Q45. On the back wheel for the usual reason (including courtesy to the other...

    Upgraded QX100 rear shock.

Yes. A5 RR-1 There’s been a ton of discussion of this in this forum. Unfortunately you can’t use the forum search (gives the word-too-common error, possibly not with quotes). But search Google for Cruzbike A5 RR-1 and you’ll find them. All the info you need. It’s been while since I had an...

    Amputee Cruzbike Riders?

Nothing useful to add except that this is a really great forum. Welcome Vaughn! Looking forward to hearing about your progress. And seeing ... you'll notice that we really like photos of these bikes in action.

    front wheel change

I'll go with "people who enjoy tinkering with their bikes about as much as riding them". (I used to be this way with cars, before they put computers in them. What'll we do when this comes to bicycles? https://youtu.be/3H3KhEXDE2) I use the ziptie method. It's easy, it works, if you use a black...

    Minimalist rack for Q45

Since I have a Thor seat, the angle is fixed by the way it's mounted. See many threads here about how to mount these ... it's not as straightforward as the CB seat, not as adjustable, especially because it has two large ribs. You can see the bent-metal bracket I built to do this in the 3rd and...

Hi The Brook. Have you checked your PMs? (conversations)

    Minimalist rack for Q45

I've avoided getting a regular rack because I wouldn't use it all that much, it requires some kind of rack-bag or paniers, and meanwhile I'd be carrying around an ugly structure around on the back of my bike. So I built a minimal rack that weighs less than 1lb total and nearly disappears when...

    Cruzbike S40 in Nairobi, Kenya!

I used to get hotfoot after an hour or so and fixed it by putting a rubber "button" below the insole, under my metatarsal joint, as described in the article linked below. Just a round flat piece of stiff foam rubber about 2cm across and maybe 4mm thick. Somehow it spreads the metatarsals and...

I guess now that you have an S40 you're too fast for your old cycling friends ;-).

    Cruzbike S40 in Nairobi, Kenya!

Exciting video. Thoughtful thoughts. Thanks for that. I also do most of my riding (commuting) in urban traffic. Trucks and buses are scary big, and loud, but at least the drivers know how to use their mirrors and they know where the corners of their vehicle are. Car drivers scare me more...

Moved.. anyone recommend any machine-shops or fabricators?

R&E cycles 5627 University Way NE Seattle WA (Ravenna neighborhood) 206.527.4822 | info@rodbikes.com Tue - Fri 12PM-6PM | Sat 10AM-5PM rodbikes.com They do all kinds of fabrication. Not cheap, of course, but these are people who love bicycles and know their stuff. There's another place I...

    Cruzbike PPE. Two versions

Two Cruzbikes are closer than 6 feet, but since one has a mask and the other a face shield, they're probably safe enough. @Tortue rode over for a raingear comparison today. His mask is light, elegantly made with 3-d printed connecting parts, and gives him great visibility in traffic. Mine has...

    Absolute Black Premium Oval Chainrings

Agree with everybody! Mostly with @Lief 's two comments: It depends on the rider and style. Having ridden with a single Q-ring on my Q45, and before that with the same ring on my Q559, I also agree with @Beano that they tend to smooth the power stroke; for me, especially on hard uphills with...

    Riding in the rain

Hi @Tortue . I also fit the above description. And, sounds like similarly, enjoy tinkering with bikes about as much as riding them. (See my post above for info on some of the fairings I've built). We should meet. Show off our fairings and talk shop. I live in Ravenna. How about you? (None of...

Kind Shock Dual Air Rear Shock

Nice discussion from @benphyr . Interesting solution using different size wheels. Also an interesting point about the longer shock allowing more travel, thus more shock absortion. (Or at least more tolerance to strong shocks). The 125 is really short and has little travel. But there's nothing...
