"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

Last week I was recovering from 9 hours of jet lag, and the grey, gloomy weather from the "atmospheric river" was making the recovery slow. But I felt strong at the start. However, just 3.5 miles in I started picking up a side stitch. My fitness right now isn't great, and being off the bike for...

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

The problem I had with 2Laps-Watopia is that sometimes Zwift starts the segment on the second lap (that was the case for Weeks 0 and 1), but other times Zwift starts it on the first lap (Week 2). I was using the first lap as a warmup, so my Week 2 time for that segment was 10 minutes slower. I...

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

Last week Larry and I had a problem with the 2Laps-Watopia segment on Zwift. I see that someone created another segment called Cruzbike Volcano Flats 2X TT. Is there a landmark for the start/end of that segment? Is it the high-rise building on the right-hand side of the road?

    650c rear wheel for Vendetta?

What is the Tribe's experience with running a 650c wheel on the rear of their Vendetta, while keeping the 700c on the front? It would lower my head by ~25mm, which I should think would be more aero.

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

But kidding aside, what do you think about using average speed divided by average heart rate for the performance metric? Then you could reward those who improve their ratio of speed to effort. Plus it would make it harder for cheaters like me to game the competition. ;)

    bikist dog

Suz, I feel the same way. We have friends who are dog-lovers, and when I tell them this story and what i’d like to do to this dog, they just cringe. But my wife just laughs. Maybe jond is on to something.

Ha! Maybe fumes from the grill are settling on my bike.

No but I got a Mace canister. Haven't needed to use it (yet), though.

    bikist dog

I'm sure most readers on this thread have noticed dogs stare at them when they are riding their Cruzbike. I even had a golden retriever do a double-take as I went past him while I was riding off the back of a pace line. But how about anti-recumbent dogs? One of my common commute routes takes...

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

What's a good starting point for QXL rings on a S40? Do the settings that apply to a V20 also apply to a S40? Is factory position 4 on the bolt that leads the crank arm a good starting point?

    Recumbent-DF transformer

The Switchbike, though interesting, isn't what I have in mind. In the perfect world I'd be able to transform my Vendetta into a Domane and back again in minutes. ;)

    Recumbent-DF transformer

A bent has a low-speed limit that is higher than a DF because I can balance at lower speed on a DF than on a bent. On long steep hills with a bent I must either climb fast enough to not fall over, or stop and rest, or walk. On the hills that I can get up, I have to put out above-threshold power...
