    HPV Fun Day

HPV Fun Day was organized again this year by Carole and George Leone. It was May 5 at the Hellyer Velodrome in San Jose, CA. Attendance was lighter than previous years, but it was still fun. Here's a photo of my Vendetta, sporting RojoRacing wheel covers front and back. And here's a photo...

Your The Texas Time Trial Primer

I took it out today on a paved trail by the Bay in winds that were 12 mph according to the NWS. Gusts pushed me around a bit on the trail. I had a couple stretches without gusts where I pushed it up to 32 mph, and it was no problem. Sprints will be first, and the NWS forecast is 4-6 mph at that...

Your The Texas Time Trial Primer

@LarryOz how high were the winds? I'm going to the event at the Hellyer Velodrome this weekend, and I've made @RojoRacing wheel covers for both wheels. But the winds are forecast to be 12-13 mph, and I don't want to end up on the pavement. What wind level is too high for front wheel covers?

    Longer chainstay = more speed

As you raise your feet your entire leg will rotate upward. At some point your femur will be vertical (when your knee is maximally bent). If you raise your feet beyond that point, your knee (at its maximum bend point) will lower (not that this would be a practical riding position).

The compact chainring front mech issues thread

When I put a 50t QXL on my Vendetta, this problem went away. Admittedly an expensive way to solve a shifting problem, but if you are on the fence about Q-rings this might be the reason to spend.

Zwift - Cruzbike Activities (races and group rides)

Not good. My internet connection failed in the 16th mile. My power wasn't very good, but I continued to the end. After I got my internet connection back, Zwift only recorded the first part of the race in my activities list even though I did the whole thing, and none of it uploaded to Strava. But...

50t Q-ring solved that problem on my Vendetta.

    warped disc brake rotor

I don't think it was the 3000' descent on New Years Day. I suspect it is this descent: https://www.strava.com/segments/612463 which I do regularly on my hillier commutes. I'm in the habit of pulsing the brakes, but they got "spongy" recently (not using compressionless cable housing). And on...

    warped disc brake rotor

Is it normal for them to get warped? A quick Google search turned up MTB threads about fixing warped rotors with crescent wrenches, hammers, etc. Here's what mine look like: This image shows the inner edge (toward the hub) of the rotor. It doesn't touch the table at any point around the...

6-12-24 Hour World Time Trial Championships Perez vs the World

@ratz the reason I ask is that it looks to me like my P1 pedals are reading a bit lower than my Tacx Neo. I would expect it to be the other way around. I have the Powertap mobile app. But when I run the Powertap mobile app during a session on the trainer, the Powertap mobile app just goes into...

    Sofrider on Tacx Neo

That's it! The spacer came with the Neo. I remember wondering what it was for. Thanks Bill.

    Sofrider on Tacx Neo

Looks like the Neo is designed for 135, but the Sofrider is 142. I see mention of a 142 adapter on the Tacx website, but it is for 12mm, not QR.

    Sofrider on Tacx Neo

I've tried to mount our Sofrider on the Tacx Neo we recently bought so that Elisa and I can easily use it. But the fork seems too wide. Any suggestions? -Cliff

Cobb 155mm crank.. should there be play when installed?

I had two spacers in each side, between the frame and the BB cups. Two of them are 0.100" and the other two are 0.038". I removed all four, put everything back together, and torqued the crank down with every ounce of strength that I have. My wife had to hold the back end of the Vendetta down. I...

Cobb 155mm crank.. should there be play when installed?

I put a 145mm Cobb crank on my V20 a few months ago, and I had the same issue. I "solved" it by using the spacers. But the crank keeps coming loose. If I really tighten it tight, then the bearings feel way too tight; the cranks don't spin much when the chain is off. I have the RWC BB with...

disc wheel for the drive wheel

I loosened the QR, and the rubbing stopped. If I latch the QR lightly, the brakes work as they should. Seems strange that there is that much flex in the front triangle.
