Wax your chain, and you won't need to do as much maintenance :)

If you have time, wax your chain. It will last for a couple thousand miles, and you get no grease! .. and then you can grease it when you need to, but at least you get quite a while without the oil being annoying. You can get a block of parrafin at a craft/hobby store. Get a gallon or larger...

I also use the Voile strap, but really quite rarely (e.g. when putting the bike on a car or similar, as opposed to moving it around on the ground).

I've ridden up and down the driveway a few times, and it seems to work OK. I'm waiting for the appropriate chainwheel for the front, and was using my 34t up front. It works, but I'm looking forward to my 44t arriving. I still have the 50 up front (and the front derailleur too), but can't use it...

I use mechanical/hydraulic hybrids, so I don't have to bleed the whole system, thankfully! There are cases where one might bleed the /caliper/, but that isn't as fraught with issues as bleeding the whole system. I do pay for that in terms of brake responsiveness.. but honestly, I mostly do...

Build update. edit: Also using 140mm cranks. The Thor seat has been replaced with the new CB adjustable CF seat. The Thor was cracking after some abuse, and.. I also needed some more additional space between the seat and the bars at the start of my tour. This was not needed by the end ^_^...
