What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

My rubber band non-mod is still going strong. Total cost is < $1. Still working without issue two years later. No drilling involved. It does take up more space, and it does not work on the less reclined frames, but for Silvio's and Vendetta's it is worth a shot before drilling to see if you...

GPS and horn mount for curved slider

This one has better smoothed edges, and is slightly less weight.. not that I'm really trying to reduce the weight right now. Rev 6 (for another S30 owner):

GPS and horn mount for curved slider

Any chance of a better lit picture from a little farther back? What is the OD of the BB-shell? What kind of mount does your light want? Just a cross-bar? How much space is required between the cross-bar and the base holding it? @benphyr ?

GPS and horn mount for curved slider

I used an inch outer diameter for the cross-bar. The OD of the curved slider is 44mm. If you tell me what the design constraints are I can probably make a model that any 3d printing shop can make for you that will work better than any of these prototypes!

GPS and horn mount for curved slider

I've gotten annoyed with how my horn and GPS fit together on the handlebars of my S30, so I created a mount for the curved slider that can fit both in-line on top of slider, and screws into the top bottle-cage holes. This is with the slider curving 'up' (or away from the rider). Fabricated...

Assault on the Carolinas Ride: No recumbents allowed?

I'm just waiting for someone to sue under the ADA. They're inviting a lawsuit for silly reasons. :(

Thor GS Easy seat mounting suggestions

You can use the "InstaMorph" or equivalent thermoplastic to create basically perfect shims and not have to cut off the tabs. It takes all of 10 minutes to do, is 100% reversible, and costs like $10 in materials (which is probably 2-3x more material than you'll need).

Magene Ridge $250 pedal Power meter

If it does end up working, with an SPD-mountain-compatible pedal, I'll end up being a customer.

    Ventisit Squirming On Carbon FiberSeat

I made the top half 1-ply, and left the bottom 2-ply by cutting the zipties holding the ventiseat together at the bottom, then sliding the ventiseat down from the top of the seat. Near the small of the back, it transitions from 1->2 ply. Seems to work well. I appreciate the extra padding near...

    How good are patches?

I've had a tube explode as well, though as a result of rim brakes causing too much thermal expansion. It sounded like an explosion, and scared the bejeeez out of me! Thankfully, this happened 30 or so seconds after the descent was done, so the net result want so bad. Amusingly (?) the failure...

    Stop the flop

Why I don't like the steer-stopper: It prevents the front from any motion. It is good only for parking. That isn't what I want. I want to be able to walk my CruzBike into a building, down the hall, then put it against a pole. I want to never have to remember to do anything when getting on or...

    Stop the flop

I used a big rubber band on my S30. Works very well, no frame mod/drilling needed.

    Tiltmaniac's S30v2 build.

InstaMorph or any other Polycaprolactone (chemical name for the plastic. Typically comes as pellets you melt together). Here is the one I used, but they're all basically equivalent: https://www.amazon.com/Polly-Plastics-Cosplayers-Hobbyists-Accessories/dp/B00WRWKM6G

cruzbike crank length & bottom bracket shell

I'd say shorter even than 165. Knee clearance with the handlebars is the largest part of it. In particular, it allows you to move the bars more forward (or the crank towards you, same thing different perspective), allowing you to have a wider range of fit options. It also can make it easier to...

    How good are patches?

I've done it a couple of times, including one fantastic time in the dark in the rain under tree cover on a bicycling trail. Seriously dark. I didn't try to get it wet, and worked. I didn't investigate beyond that. It may have been luck, or it may have been chemistry.
