    S40 finally assembled and ready!

The best adjustment of the spyre for me is to eyeball it with a sheet of white paper, and slowly cinch the bolts down. I've had mixed results with the hold-brakes-and-tighten method-- it can still result in misalignments which cause brake shudder. If it works, though, it is reallly convenient :)

To the fellow CBiker seen this morning

Hello out there! I saw another CruzBike this morning on my commute to work. I was on my (S30v2) in the left turn lane opposite the mystery CBiker who was on a Quest and heading straight. So, anyway, hello! Glad to see another CBiker nearby!

    Cruzbike KOM/QOM challenge 10-31-17 thru 10-10-18

I may have a low W/kg, but I regularly hit that (50kph/31mph) on my S30 on my commute most days! Of course, I wouldn't call it "easy", but it is getting easier. I'll bet the V would be even easier! Of course, it takes me *forever* to actually get to that speed!!

    Brake recommendation?

The Yokozuna Motoko is pretty good too.

    Water bottle quandary

Don't ride in the wet with that, if you want to drink from your water bottle! The behind the headrest may feel weird, but it points the drinking-ends away from the muck-flinging-device (wheel). If you don't ride when the pavement is wet, this doesn't matter, of course.

I put a car horn on my Silvio

I use a small electric 'horn'. It works better than the bell as: - it is loud enough to be heard inside a closed car - it sounds different, so people actually move aside when they hear it. Because it isn't a friendly 'ring ring', I mostly use it when I really *really* need to get someone's...

    Cruzbike KOM/QOM challenge 10-31-17 thru 10-10-18

I only have my one KOM (I've really only had time for my commute to/from work), but I'm happy to be placing in the top 10 around here on some segments that have more than 1800 folks trying :)

    Garmin lights on the V

I mount my garmin radar (which is the previous generation, but I believe it is the same mounting) using a garmin on-the-handlebars GPS mount on my inverted headrest tubes (I mount my headrest tubes upside down). For my front light (fly12ce, which isn't quite the same, but close enough as I...

I sense a disturbance in the 3rd Law

One of my friends is working on a sensor that would measure 3-axis windspeed for airplanes (currently a pod strapped to a wingstrut of a plane). Airplanes are his passion. I keep telling him that this pod would make some (not huge, but enoughe money in cycling land which could help fund the more...

    Cruztrike???

I don't recall them ever selling it. I just remember seeing pics and videos of the prototype.

    Tiltmaniac's S30v2 build.

On my commute today I was easily a good 4mph faster (where I'd normally hit 29mph, I now hit 33mph). It feels slightly easier to make power, and I'm sure it is slightly more aero as well. So far the results are positive :) Time (and the data) will tell if this is psychology or if it something...

    Tiltmaniac's S30v2 build.

Oh, I also forgot that I'm trying out the Quarq TyreWiz cycling pressure sensor. It isn't just because I love gadgets-- it is because I'm lazy and will often not check tire pressure and don't particularly like to be surprised by rim-and-road (or rim-and-railroad) contact accidentally.

    Tiltmaniac's S30v2 build.

Those Cruzbike folks sure know how to make some pretty bikes, that is for sure! :) It does definitely look a bit more V20-ish, though I find the shorter wheelbase useful at least in terms of maneuvering the bike into the office. I'm kinda wondering if I'll need a headrest. Time will tell.

    Tiltmaniac's S30v2 build.

I put the seat where I thought I'd want it, then I drilled three holes to match the new position, then applied new thermoplastic (I kept the old thermoplastic so I could put the seat in the old position. At that point, I put the screws in and called it a day. (Technically I need to shorten the...

    Tiltmaniac's S30v2 build.

I've done the more laid-back mounting of my seat now. I'm definitely liking it so far.

Be sure to file the police report. Troll eBay, etc. Hopefully it'll show up somewhere and someone here will see it. Be sure to be detailed about what it has on it, so it can be recognized!

    Crash due to flat tire

There are much larger forces for the front wheel (you typically don't hit potholes with the rear wheel with anything like the force that you do with the front wheel), and that is going to make the largest difference on traction and energy losses due to road roughness. I agree-- if optimizing...
