What model Sofrider is this (photo) and can it take a rack?

It's a V2 and it can take a rack. they all can. Just make sure you attach the third arm of the rack to the swingarm and not the rest of the bike.

    V20 on velodrome

BillyK , GRR, and others have successfully mounted fairings on MBB bikes (see, for example, this thread). The tail piece and sock between the two would look like any other socked bike. Just think of it. A nice upright position for generating power. And likely more aerodynamic than a V20...

    V20 on velodrome

Yes, my relative improvements would be (likely) larger. But a socked S40 might be the fastest production bike ever made.

    V20 on velodrome

Very nice, Larry! Huh. If only somebody could think of a way to make an S40 more aerodynamic (put a sock and a fairing on it). Oh well. Maybe some day...

    Longer chainstay = more speed

This. Aerodynamics is just weird. It really is. And having educated guesses is great, but testing things all together is going to give you the best results. The only other complication is: Some aero changes that give better aerodynamics will also have you produce less power. How these two...

    Best way to lower handlebars?

How much do you want to move the handlebars? Just down? Down and towards you? Try this: Get on your bike and hold another set of handlebars exactly where you think you want them and take a picture. (And post it, of course.) (I have ridden with extreme low angles on my Sofrider and...

    V20 on velodrome

Hi Larry, I wonder if you'd make more power on an S40? It would also be interesting to get a V20 where you could raise the seat somewhat. I'm willing to believe that a bit higher seat might be enough more power to get over the bigger drag. And if only somebody would suggest building a...

Has anyone built up a T 50 with "front" derailleurs ?

I have both (on different bikes). They both work fine.

    Best way to lower handlebars?

I recommend against cutting the riser (at the very least until you're absolutely sure). New stem or just low it. You likely want a shorter stem with no rise.

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

I've been eyeing the cheap 20" fatbikes at Walmart. I'd have to custom manufacture the front triangle, but wouldn't it be worth it!

    Hand fatigue

Being able to do a speed skating step slowly takes a lot of skill. If you skate, it's worth trying to learn how to do this slowly. :) For riding a bike with no hands, I recommend a medium-slow cadence. I don't like to do it too slowly, but somewhere between 60 and 80 rpm isn't crazy.

    Hand fatigue

I very often ride my Cruzbikes with no hands. And while there really isn't a good reason to do this, learning how to (almost) ride with no hands means that you don't have to use your upper body when riding. First, try riding where you aren't pulling on the handlebars, only pushing. Niiiice...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

You two are arguing about different points. You are saying that hip angle matters (and I think it's clear it does). The NASA analysis is likely claiming that given a given hip angle, the body produces the same power regardless how you rotate the whole system. So if we strap you to your bike...
