has anyone tried bars like this?

That's pretty much what I do.

    Steering damper/stabilizer

Hardly the way most people would initiate an objective technical discussion. When someone called you out for the hazing comparison being inappropriate, you responded: In other words, claiming you didn't mean it that way, but then going right on as if you did. But then I saw your post on...

has anyone tried bars like this?

I'll testify to that. I quite like it set up that way, especially because it's a lot easier to shift the front derailleur with my stronger hand, plus having more leverage from the upside-down levers. I always had fits shifting the triple on my Trek road bike into the big ring, usually dropping...

Testing week in Asheville, NC June 25 - July 1

I did, but I think it was more than just changing from 451 to 507 wheels that made the difference. Better quality wheels and wider, more supple tires, combined with a stiffer rear shock and higher BB, have brought the average speed up a full 2 mph. I didn't notice a lot of difference from any...

    V20 Build Question

The same thing happens with the 50/34 crankset and 12T small cog on my Silvio. One of the guys explained why it does that, but I can't find the thread. I try not to cross-chain if I can help it; so for me, hearing that rub is a useful, audible "shift the front already" indicator.

Suggestions for a new bike carrier

One of my DF-riding co-w0rkers has a Thule T2 rack on her SUV. She let me try the Silvio on it Thursday afternoon. It looked like there'd be no problem fitting the Q next to it. Glad to have that confirmed in practice--thank you! It was a tossup between the Thule and Saris racks, but I found a...

Suggestions for a new bike carrier

No, it's a 4-door sedan. The Honda Crosstour started out as a 4-door Accord hatchback. But Honda later gave the Crosstour its own chassis, instead of continuing to share with the Accord, and it doesn't handle as well now. We do have a Honda Element, but at 10 years old and 248,000 miles, it's...

Suggestions for a new bike carrier

I picked one up at Wal-Mart on the way home. Simple to assemble, looks nice, easy to load either the Silvio or the Q. Figuring out how to carry both at once, however, took an hour and a half and was a royal pain. I ended up with some sort of X configuration, where the front end of each bike is...

QX100 for a customer in Norway

Yes. Yes. I didn't realize it until I put the new shock on. Now I'm aware of a bit of front suspension pogoing when I climb a short, semi-steep hill, that I had never noticed before. The KSPEED 261 can be adjusted. I tried it but couldn't tell much difference--I must not have been turning the...

Thanks, I forgot all about that thread (and I had even posted in it!) I'll check into the SportWing.

Suggestions for a new bike carrier

I've been using a Swagman XC2 hitch-mount bike carrier to transport a Silvio and a Q on a Honda Accord. It uses hooks on a ratcheting bar to hold the bikes by the frame. I had been thinking about upgrading anyway, but my Honda dealer's service department has made that decision more immediate...

QX100 for a customer in Norway

I'll second that. I bought the A5-RE for my Q back in January. Same vendor, same shipping time. Significant improvement in handling and comfort.

It is. We had quite a problem with spammers some months back. Once you reach a certain number of posts, that limit goes away; or an admin can override it for you.

    Metric vs imperial measurers

Nope, not us. We don't go past first cousins. :D Northeast Kentucky has some...interesting...relationships, however. Complete with flowchart: http://gean.wwco.com/grandpa/

    Tire pressure talk

Unpredictable, changing direction suddenly and unexpectedly. The way a squirrel, mouse, or other small rodent darts around when running from place to place.

    Metric vs imperial measurers

My son has seen an endocrinologist for several years for a growth disorder. The clinic records his height and weight in metric. At one of his first appointments, the nurse who measured him told me my (then) 9-year-old was 48 cm tall. "You mean 48 inches, don't you?" I asked. "No, ma'am, 48 cm...

Chain WAXing (yes it's that easy) - and other mysteries of this art!

Almost thou persuadest me... I've been using the Squirt dry lube for a couple of months now, and I like it. I didn't even realize my chain had been making noise, until the first surprisingly quiet ride with the Squirt lube. (I never had noticed any difference with Purple Extreme or T-9.) I...

noob's initial observations of silvio 1.5

Did it come with the shock pump for the front shock? Yes, I have this with my Silvio 1.5 as well, usually when I'm just starting out on a ride. Once I'm up to speed, I rarely notice it. Please do. We like photos around here. :)
