Diet: Low Carb and Ultra Cycling

The composition of the LDL makes a difference. It can be large and fluffy/buoyant (good) or small and dense (bad). Given that your other numbers are either midrange or very good, it's likely that the LDL is large and fluffy, and not something to be concerned about.

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

Bike Crossing in Flowood. They closed the Baton Rouge store and moved the merchandise to Dogwood, behind the Hilton Garden Inn on Lakeland. Much smaller than the Ridgeland store. Matt says he saw a lot more SRAM and Campy down there, where it's almost exclusively Shimano up here.

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

Young Mechanic (Matt) really does know how to adjust SRAM Yaw derailleurs! The Silvio finally shifts properly for the first time in the year-plus I've had it. Up and down the entire 12-36 cassette with no chain rub on the FD while in the 50T Q-ring. No overshifts when moving to the big ring, no...

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

True dat. OTOH, I know where ReklinedRider lives, and it's a whole lot closer. Which is one more than I've done. Therefore, you're an expert--compared to me, at least. :D

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

I went by the LBS this afternoon to see whether, perchance, they had a fourth-hand cable puller for sale (they didn't). I told my usual mechanic about the chain rub, and how I planned to tackle the problem. "No, no, no, you don't need a cable puller. Just do it by hand, and then use your barrel...

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

Guess I need to get one of those (or the Pedro's equivalent). Still not happy with the shifting on the Silvio. After a tune-up in March, it no longer throws the chain off the big ring. But there's chain rub on the inner FD plate with the four largest cogs, where it rubbed only on the three...

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

It was a problem on the older models, that I believe has been fixed on the newer ones. Trying to go below a 50T big ring didn't work too well. I ran into that when setting up the Silvio 1.5, because the FD couldn't be positioned low enough for the 46T Q-ring I thought I wanted to use. The 50T...

Diet: Low Carb and Ultra Cycling

Sorry, Lee, I'm confused. "Extremely high" cholesterol? This person's average total cholesterol from 2008-2014 is 230, which is considered only borderline high by current standards. His average LDL is 131, on the line between near-optimal and borderline high. Both of these markers have proved to...

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

I'm good without the small-small 34-12 for now, but will keep an eye out for a used 36T QXL. I'd much rather have use of the 50-28 and 50-32 combos; having the 50-36 available would be a bonus.

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

I'm having exactly this problem with my Silvio 1.5 in the 50T Q-ring with the Force 22 Yaw FD, despite repeated adjustments over the past year. No chain rub with the 34T Q-ring; I can do everything except cross-chain (because the chain rubs the back of the big ring). I had considered ordering...

New to Cruzbike. Can't decide between Silvio or Vendetta

Not so much based on height, as on "outer" leg length, or what they call x-seam. I'm 5'5" with a 40.5" x-seam, but there are guys here 3 or 4 inches taller than me who have the same or shorter x-seam. http://cruzbike.com/fit.html

    Minneapolis Silvio

I had sore forearms the first few days with my Q from gripping so hard. I never got the hang of the open-palms thing--just had to keep reminding myself to relax the hands. It took me close to a month to graduate from parking lot to flat, straight residential streets. I was a slow, slow learner...
