Spring Time - Learning To Ride Time

I was a slow learner when I was a 7-year-old struggling to ride a DF, and a slow learner with my Cruzbike 40-plus years later. I didn't know about the checklist when I got my Q, or I would surely have used it. I had watched the CB videos, so I had some clue, but the list would have helped even...

451 Dual Drive wheelset for sale

The wheelset is still available. Turns out the potential buyer wanted to replace the 406 rear wheel on his trike with the 451 wheel, but his LBS showed him there wouldn't be enough clearance.

    Urinating on ultras

I remember this happening when I first got a tadpole trike 10 years ago, though the body adjusted after a few rides. There are threads over on BROL on the subject at least as far back as 2006, and Google Groups going back to 2003. Nobody came up with a published study or anything. The...

    Puncture vs pain

This is bringing Bill Cosby quotes to mind...sorry, Joe... "Carol Burnett described what labor pains feel like. She said, 'Take your bottom lip and pull it over your head.' " "My wife and I have five children and the reason why we have five children is because we do not want six."

    Urinating on ultras

Nothing wrong with your English! Your title was short and to the point. You had an honest question--might as well be direct about it.

    Puncture vs pain

Well, Larry asked a rhetorical question about a certain kind of pain, I answered it with a source more authoritative than I. However, unlike most of y'all, I can testify to its truth firsthand. Twice. 18 years ago, and 15 years ago. ;):D

    Puncture vs pain

"A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world." ~ John 16:21, NIV

    Future of the Profile Post

I see profile posts being used mainly to exchange information such as phone numbers and travel plans, which would be better kept private in a conversation; or to ask a question that would be more suited to a forum post. Wouldn't miss the sidebar a bit.

    A simpler Silvio?

I bought my Q451 (same basic frame as the Q559 or QX100, but with front suspension and smaller wheels) without ever having seen a Cruzbike in person. I was determined that I was going to learn to ride it; but if I couldn't, there was that 30-day return period, with a reasonable restocking fee...

    First Silvio Ride

Ah, so that was you! Welcome to the tribe. Some riders have made a foam wedge to go behind their upper back and shoulders as they make the transition to Silvio or Vendetta. Others have modified the headrest itself; there's a thread somewhere about padding it with an inner tube folded a certain...

    A simpler Silvio?

Maybe it's time to at least try one out? You might find that the Silvio is what you're looking for after all. Assuming you're truly interested in a rando Cruzbike, and aren't just idly speculating: Consider the QX100. No front suspension. It'll take 26" tires up to 2" wide. Not wide enough...

451 Dual Drive wheelset for sale

OK, guys, I have someone on BROL who's interested, but only wants the Dual Drive wheel. I'd prefer to sell the wheels and tires as a set. If you have a Q559 and have been thinking about buying a set of small wheels so you can pack it for travel, here's your chance! I'll drop the price to $250...

Hello and WTB used Q559 -- Will be buying new Vendetta July 2016, but can't wait!!!

Welcome! If you're looking for a bike primarily for commuting, I'd suggest the Q559. You may be able to find one used. I personally like the Dual Drive 3-speed hub for stop-and-go riding, since it can be shifted even when you're stopped. The Q-series bikes are probably a little easier to learn...

    Quest 451 to 507

Sorry, I'd seen MUP used around here so much I thought everyone knew that acronym. Multi-Use Path. With each equipment swap, I made sure to ride the Q at least once to observe any changes in handling or speed. The longer chainstay/higher BB with the smaller wheels gave me about 0.25 mph...

    Quest 451 to 507

Having ridden about 50 miles on the Q507, I like the changes I've made even more. I hauled it out to a MUP today for an 11-mile loop. The handling is rock solid, speed is consistently better than it was pre-upgrade, and navigating bollards and narrow bridges is much easier. I'll try to get some...

451 Dual Drive wheelset for sale

Selling the original Cruzbike wheelset from my 2014 Quest 2.0 451. A-RIM DC17 rims, disc-brake compatible (rotors not included), SRAM Dual Drive 3-speed IGH, 11-28 9-speed cassette, Kenda Kwest 100 psi tires and tubes. Approximately 670 miles. Two spare tubes--one Kenda, one Schwalbe--new in...

    Robert's V20 build

I had more difficulty getting used to SRAM DoubleTap brifters than I did to the left/right shifting swap. I'm pleased with both now. I much prefer shifting the FD with my stronger hand. It was a tad strange at first to work the brakes upside down, though easy enough to get used to. The flared...

    The V Chronicles

If you miss it that much, I suppose we could arrange visitation. How about we trade bikes one weekend a month? :p:D

    Quest 451 to 507

The tubes that came with the tires were already out of the box. I think they're Schwalbe. I have SV10 tubes on order. LOL! No, just quiet country roads, where I do "dog sprints" if I forget to bring Halt!. :p

    Quest 451 to 507

Thursday was one of those days... I spent Thursday afternoon eagerly anticipating a ride on the Q507 after work. Arrived home to find the front tire flat as a pancake. I'd pinched the tube when I put the tire on (without the help of tire levers, even!), and the spare tubes I'd ordered hadn't...
