Trek Releases new bike that can keep up with the V20

Just curious, which helmet would you recommend? It seems that the traditional time trial helmets are meant to be used with the head somewhat looking down, instead of looking somewhat up, as when on the Vendetta. Maybe I'm way off base here, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

The "Learning to ride a Vendetta" diary

I had totally forgotten all about that until you mentioned it. But when I started riding the V, I now remember that I also had some back pain in the upper or middle of the back more than once (I don't remember exactly where now). But the important thing is that I somehow adapted and have never...

Yes, I agree, and I weigh myself before and after every ride - either inside or outside - to monitor my hydration. I find it very useful.

    Joe's New Tires

I considered both tires. The data were very similar. It was hard to choose between them.

    Joe's New Tires

I was using 28 mm (26.5 mm actual) Continental Gatorskin tires on my Vendetta with heavy butyl tubes made for 28 mm tires. Today, I replaced them with 25 mm (25 mm actual) Continental Grand Prix 4000 S II tires and some Conti tubes made for 25 mm tires. I weighed all of the tubes and tires and...

Normally, I just drink distilled water and dextrose (glucose) for liquids in my bottles. I just eat Clif Bars when I get hungry - I only ate one Clif Bar during that ride and it was at about 46 miles - and I drank a bunch of water then also. At around 80 miles, I stopped at a rest stop and ate...

I ran into the same issue on my V.

    Thursday Night A Sprints

They are normally in the 50-mile range. I was going so fast on that ride, that my speed sensor's magnet moved outward toward the tire on the spoke. So I did most of the ride with no way of knowing how far or fast I was going.

    Holland Hundred 2015-07-18

I just finished the Holland Hundred in Holland, Michigan. I'm still using my heavy tires and tubes (28 mm Conti GatorSkins and thick tubes on bullet-proof Ksyrium wheels). They have terrible rolling resistance and are heavy. I was thinking about putting on the new tires and tubes, but decided...

Here's the Thursday night A ride sprints. Got my butt kicked. Then got some payback.

MSU Gran Fondo on Saturday, June 27, 2015

I am assuming it's because the MSU College of Human Medicine Grand Rapids campus is there. There may be a history that I'm not aware of that is also part of the reason.

MSU Gran Fondo on Saturday, June 27, 2015

This was the beginning of the MSU Gran Fondo non-race, with timing chips and everyone riding like bats-out-of-hell. This was in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. We got a police escort out of town where they probably said, "good riddance and get lost you bums!" We were are on our way to the...

The "Learning to ride a Vendetta" diary

The combination of a Volae seat, an ADEM headrest, and a Giro Attack Shield helmet solved the problems with both the glasses and with the helmet adjustment for me.

The "Learning to ride a Vendetta" diary

I experienced the same problem with the rough ride. Around here, a lot of the roads are not good, so this is a big problem. My eyeballs got vibrated so much I couldn't see. My solution was to copy another Vendetta rider (Rick Youngblood). I installed a Volae seat (size: large), an ADEM...

The "Learning to ride a Vendetta" diary

I remember back in April when I was learning to rider the V. It was very difficult at first. But every time I went for another ride, it was easier than the time before. Now I'm as stable as I was on a DF. It just took practice and adaptation over and over. Keep it up.

Here's a little Saturday morning fun with the A riders. Bottom line: four strong DF riders do not one Vendetta make. (You can watch this in HD)
