    Chasing the breakaway

Here's a short video of a breakaway chase toward the end of a fast shop ride a few days ago. You can set it for 1080p for better resolution.

    July 4th A ride on the V

I went out on the July 4th LBS ride early this morning while the temps were still in the fifties (although it warmed up nicely during the ride). Lots of people attended - too many to count - it's a popular annual tradition. There was one guy on a recumbent with a huge, clear fairing - but he...

New Silvio S30 Rider: first ride report

I've only been riding a Vendetta since April and it is my first recumbent ever. I was downright dangerous and entirely unstable when I started. I crashed 3 times in my first 2 rides. It was very painful and demoralizing. I hurt myself in the same two spots (left forearm and left hip) during...

Water Bottle Mounts on Silvio 2

I am using the Flexr system behind my seat (two bottles) on a Vendetta for events. I copied this from Ratz. I use the retractable cable to hold the bite valve in place. The bite valve is awesome, but I need to get a 90-degree angle connector to make it more ergonomic. The bottles use liners...

Need input for possible new Cruzbike product

FYI: My solution with Volae seat, Topeak bag, and stock neck rest turned into a structural frame support for bag and bottle cages.

Finally, some pictures are available of the 2015 N24HC. Leaders of the front pack: Lonesome V:

    Helmet with visor?

I use the Giro Attack Shield myself, but here is a helmet that a guy on a low racer wears. I haven't tried it myself, and it is made for skydiving, but it sounds like a possible solution to your problem: http://www.icaro2000.com/Products/Helmets/4fight/Grid-Cut/Grid-Cut.htm Here is another...

MSU Gran Fondo on Saturday, June 27, 2015

Oh, yes. The first was for fuel. The second was for pleasure. :)

MSU Gran Fondo on Saturday, June 27, 2015

Well, this "non-race" (with timing chips and balls-to-the-walls speed) was pretty uneventful. My weakness was climbing. Part of that was due to missing some top-end strength due to last weekend's N24HC (still not fully recovered). And part was due to competing against really strong riders...

    31st annual Michigan HPV Rally - 6/13/2015 to 6/14/2015

I ordered one but got the wrong diameter bracket - I need to get the correct diameter and try it out. It is definitely an alternative. The advantage of the homemade bracket is that it gets out in front of the feet. So far, it feels very solid. We'll see how it holds up to a torture test...

    National 24 Hour Challenge 2015

The N24HC results are in. Overall, 35th place out of 256 cyclists at 371.1 miles. I'm almost recovered enough for Saturday morning: the MSU Gran Fondo 80-mile charity ride to fund skin cancer research. It has teams and timing chips. Sure does sound like a race. I wonder if I can keep it...

Here's a video I found of the lead group early in the event:

    National 24 Hour Challenge 2015

Yes, after the initial climbing on the 24-mile loop is out of the way, then a recumbent can blow by the DF riders over and over and over. That's a blast!

    National 24 Hour Challenge 2015

I hated that hill, but I came to terms with it and just took it slow with high cadence - then it was ok. Everyone else hated it too from what I heard.

    National 24 Hour Challenge 2015

This year's event had perfect weather, even through the night. The forecast was for rain and thunderstorms, but the weather cleared up and even the nighttime temperature was great. I rode my Vendetta, and that bike is just fun to ride, even after riding for 24 hours. I met up with Kevin...

    31st annual Michigan HPV Rally - 6/13/2015 to 6/14/2015

Larry, I made a bracket for my headlight for the National 24 Hour Challenge, which is in two days. Later, I want to see how I can adapt the same idea to a VIRB camera. It was a quick and dirty job last night, but I think it will work really well for a light or a camera. I took a piece of...

    Twist shifters?

I used to have twist shifters on a mountain bike and loved them. I was also wondering how they would be on a Vendetta.
