Front wheel covers on a Vendetta

Now that I have tried Catalyst wheel covers on the rear wheel of my Vendetta, I am thinking about front wheel covers. I read somewhere that the aerodynamic effect is twice that of the rear wheel for the front wheel. I've heard that the rear wheel covers add stability. So I'm wondering if any...

    Thursday Night A Ride

So I did 78.5 miles this morning total including the shop ride. When I got home, my Catalyst wheel covers were on the step waiting for me. My Vendetta was happy. I ate lunch, put on the covers, and went out for 28 more miles. I wanted to see how they perform, and since I was still under 100...

    Thursday Night A Ride

Nope. I suspect he is like most DF riders: stuck in an outdated paradigm. But, according to a friend this morning, there was a lot of talking going on about the Vendetta at the Saturday morning ride today. A few DF riders were going for a stop ahead sign at 33 mph. I came up beside them and...

    It was a wonderful ride

My covers will arrive today. I will let you know how they feel on the rear wheel.

    Thursday Night A Ride

So I found out who this guy is. He was a professional athlete from 1995 to 2003 and competed in the Olympics as a runner. No wonder he has power.

    Thursday Night A Ride

That's a Fly6, which only has 720p resolution. It isn't very conducive to mounting, so I took off the bracket, added some stick-on Velcro on the bottom and right side, stuck it in a little valley to the left of the chain ring, strapped it in with a Velcro strap, and then put on a strip of...

    Thursday Night A Ride

Here's a video of the Thursday night A ride. But some explanation is necessary first. The group started out on a really fast ride of around 40 miles. The entire ride was balls to the walls, which is normal. On the final stretch of a few miles, the remaining group splits in half as three...

Cruzbikes may be crazy, but they aren't alone...

I would like to go south for the winter. As soon as my wife retires it will be possible. I can work from anywhere.

    Vendetta vs others

After learning to ride the V, my only fear has been due to going over 36 mph.

Did I buy the right bike? I think so. Help me make sure

Local DF riders will call you Lyle "The Destroyer" Wedel.

1st century - longest ride ever

Here is an alternative to the Topeak cage mount that I like better (I have both) and that allows finer adjustment of the angle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CJZ9HW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

    Vendetta vs others

I ride a Vendetta, which is my first recumbent, so I have no experience on the other recumbents. But I was looking at the CA2 when researching a recumbent purchase, and didn't like the long chain. I was looking at the M5CHR, but didn't like the long chain and front wheel/chain interference...

I'm still waiting for a set from Catalyst. Apparently, Catalyst was out of stock. I'm waiting for a reply regarding status.

    Handlebar Aerodynamic testing (V20)

So could you shape the handlebars into fairings? Would that be legal? Just curious.

    Handlebar Aerodynamic testing (V20)

Have you considered trying a very small custom lightweight carbon fairing just in front of the hands and brifters to smooth the airflow but not block vision and not require a different handlebar? I have been curious about the possibility.

    Social Riding Your Cruzbike

I've noticed that DF riders tend to cross too close to my front wheel sometimes when going slow. Not sure why, but I suspect it's because I'm somewhat invisible compared to what their brains expect.

    Kaboom!

Last night was the weekly, fast "A" ride at the LBS. It was perfect weather for a fast ride. This is the fastest ride around with the strongest riders in the area. There were about 20 riders, but I didn't get an accurate count. We rode through town and we passed the last intersection where...

    First cycling vacation coming soon

I rode with some teammates a few weeks ago on a hilly course, fast, in the rain, before changing to short cranks, on my V. I'm using smooth tires - they did just fine in the rain - no slippage at all. I was running around 100 to 110 PSI in a 28 mm tire (measuring 26.5 mm). I was surprised how...
