    Silvio ready to roll

Rick, I've never used Apex cranksets but the Cobb's are as good as anything I've ever had and better than most. But the BB included spins about like the second place winner in ratz' spin down video, if even that well. I'm juggling the bike budget to make the jump to that first place winner...

    Silvio ready to roll

That's a nice crankset; I have that one on my Sofrider. The only drawback is that it requires a square taper bottom bracket.

On Vendetta. 145mm cranks. (currently with speedplay frogs, not shimano)

    Silvio ready to roll

another option, and not the cheapest, but quick and handy, are Cobb Cycling cranksets. Standard and compact sets, with 145mm, 150, 155, and 165mm options. They come with a BB, fairly average quality. Their round chainrings can also be removed if you want a different tooth count, or if you...

    Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

It's kind of a pain alright. But if you exhaust all other options....

    Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

I had perhaps the same sound on the V awhile ago. BB ok, greased the bolts on boom/slider clamps and re-tightened, even a light coating of grease on the inside of the clamps themselves, did the same on steerer tube clamp, checked spokes, still creaked. Finally in desperation took things apart...

    Music to my ears

Another 30ish ride today with a distinctly faster group than yesterday. No passing anyone, no catching the faster group, just happy to keep up w the slowest riders on this ride. Barely. With a struggle. And I think the slower ones might have been loafing! But hey, my avg mph for today was...

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

My dream! And for SRAM to make an etap that supports those big cogs :)

    Music to my ears

Went on a nice 30 mile group ride this morning, my first with this group. Very nice route, great bunch of folks. About 7 miles from the finish a handful of riders broke away off the front. Since I was new to the group I was drifting along off the back, and I thought, aw, just let 'em go. They...

Good to know, thanks! Shimano is great stuff but i LOVE my SRAM.

Yay Matt! Good to know I too might now have a back-up. Which LBS is he with, if it's not top-secret? :D

Spring Time - Learning To Ride Time

if i find myself in a compromised starting position, like didn't change to a low enough gear at a sudden stop, i've taken to using the Flintstone Scoot n' Slide. No doubt others do this too: I sit on the seat back, about 2/3 of the way up towards the headrest, like you see Larry, Jason, Kevin...

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

Two other fallback options: 1) I'll take a look at it. After all I'm now an expert since I've adjusted all of one :p:D:p 2) Quick trip to Minnesota to visit the Rubber Mallet Master. Option 2 is your best bet

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

Sounds familiar! I would order the Pedro's equivalent asap and wait til you have it to try re-doing your Yaw. As good a bike mechanic as you are, you'll nail it right off using a '4th hand' type cable puller.

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

Addendum to the above Yaw post: during a nice 30 mile ride yesterday, I realized that I had NEVER had the Yaw dialed in right until modifying that one step that I now call The Secret. It was always sheer luck that it worked as well as it did. Now, upshifts are so smooth, easy, and quick I find...

Thanks Betsy and ratz. You have put my mind at ease; I can start plotting and planning for next season. :)

    Q-ring/front derailleur issue

Maybe I'm imagining things but I seem to recall there having been some sort of difficulty with front derailleur mounting on Vendetta's or Silvio's if using a 110 BCD crankset. And that SCabinetGuy made some kind of mount to go on the derailleur mounting stalk to take care of that problem. Or was...

Never fear. If it can be screwed up, i've probably done it. At **least** once!
