    V20c Build Diary 2023 edition.

I've built up Light Bicycle wheels for all five of my bikes (plus other sets for friends) and they've worked really well. On my V20c I'm using AR465 rims in the 24 hole "flyweight" build (I only weigh 130 pounds), with 30mm tires. They're fast and ride smoothly. One thing I like about Light...

Chain Catcher for V20c or V20

Ditto for the K-Edge chain catcher (I use the "Pro" version linked below). I rarely dropped the chain, but it did occasionally happen when shifting down on rough roads. I also use oval rings, which perhaps contributed a little bit to this. Since putting the K-Edge Pro on, I have had no...

    Threadbare

That sounds like a smart move. Fingers crossed that it works for you.

V20 front tire suddenly lost pressure and I crashed.

There is a small learning curve with going tubeless. It was pretty messy for me at first, but as my technique improved, the mess diminished. Now I can install a new tire or refresh sealant, which I do about every six months, with no mess at all. (I write down when I put new sealant in for...

It could also be that your shorts are simply wearing out over time and repeated washings. If you are feeling particular pressure at the spot you mentioned, then it might be worth tinkering with it for better comfort. But if not, it could just be time for new shorts.

V20 front tire suddenly lost pressure and I crashed.

Ditto for going tubeless. It won't lower the possibility of a front tire blowout to zero, but it should lower the chances significantly as the sealant either completely plugs small holes right away, or slows down bigger punctures, giving you time to come to a stop. I too have had one crash on...

    S40 Build Options

Cool write-up. Enjoy the process (and smoking your son-in-law). I have a 30mm Schwalbe Pro One on the front of my S30, which uses the same fork as the V20. It works well and fits, but barely. I could see a 32mm not fitting.

    Bought a new Gen 2 V20c

Definitely. The V's aerodynamics is super slippery. Once you get your "bent legs" and are all the way through the learning curve, you could be zipping along between 23-25mph all day long.

Proper fit w/ the Suspension Adjustable Headrest? How to minimize head vibration?

Sorry to hear about your crash (dogs and negligent dog owners make me so angry). The headrest is meant to contact the small, boney knob at the base of the skull, with little to no contact with the neck itself. I use the standard headrest that comes with the V and stuff a block of 2-inch thick...

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

It would be worth asking Robert for the definitive word about swapping in a softer fork, but here is my understanding: the Q45 and S40 share the same front ends--fork, chainstay, boom, slider, and headtube. The Q fork might come with a longer steerer tube to accommodate the more upright seat...

    V20 -> V20c + trainer?

I agree that option three is most ideal. Your road ride and your trainer ride will feel very similar, and the trainer V could be a simpler 1x setup. For your Zipp 303s wheels, if they have the Zipp 76/176 hubs that are standard spec for the 303s wheels, all you should have to do is swap the...

    Handlebar Options v20c

I tried to take a pic from a similar angle. The bars I use (Genetic Digest flared drop bar--weird name, nice bar) flare a little more outward at the bend, while the Cruzbike stock bar seems to either point straight ahead, or even turn a bit inward at the bend. A more outward bend allows you to...

    V20c accessories

I use the G1 Mips. The Vento Kineticore, Z1 Kineticore, Strada Kineticore, and Sphere Mips all have adjusters that aren't where the headrest is.

    V20c accessories

I use certain model Lazer helmets because the retention knob is on the top of the helmet, instead of at the back. I have no interference with my V20c and S30.

    SoftRider for Sale $450

Your add is coming through fine. I have sold a few Cruzbike things over the forum, but sometimes an item will just sit. I'll give it time, and knock the price down once or twice, but if that doesn't work, I will switch over to eBay. The audience is much bigger, and things will usually sell...

    First 100-miler completed, v20c

Well done. But be careful; because it's so long-haul comfortable, the V20c can turn you into a mileage junkie, and you find yourself shopping around for double centuries.

Replacement 11 speed derailleur for v20c

You might receive several different answers to this. I have stayed with mechanical shifting. I am sure that the electric shifting is nice, but it solves problems I just don't have, and I don't want to deal with battery levels and the possibility of getting caught out without juice. Just one...

    Rerouting Rear Derailleur Housing

I've done it. Not easy, but doable. It took time and patience. I cannot remember which direction of feeding the housing ended up working for me. I recently bought this fairly inexpensive tool (link below) off of Amazon and used it to build a road bike with fully internal cable routing...

    Free Hub Compatibility v20c

It usually depends on the hub brand. Most big name hub brands, like DT Swiss, i-9, Chris King, Bitex, offer various cassette bodies compatible with their hubs to convert from one platform to another. Lesser known, usually budget hub makers...not so much. I looked your hub up, and found that...
