    Wheel Recommendation for V20c

I've written a little bit about wheels on the forum before because I build my own wheels, so that I get exactly what I want for the bike I am building and the kind of riding I will most likely do on it. I will spare everybody and not go into that again here. (If you want to go there, we can...

Recumbent "Off-saddle" aka Bridging Plank: More power to ya!

This is pretty much how you sprint on a CB, with the whole body activated, just like a sprinter on a DF bike. It's another reason to love this design; it's like riding a DF bike, without the pain of riding a DF bike.

Disc brakes and wheel off trainers...

I'm the local mechanic for my friends' bikes. I can't count how many times they have squeezed the brake levers after removing wheels. It's not that hard to push the pistons back in, but over the years they have trained me to say, "Don't squeeze the brake lever" reflexively whenever a wheel...

    Which wheels to use

If ride quality is similar for both wheelsets, you'll benefit more from the deeper section wheels on mostly flat terrain. And even if you do find yourself climbing, you won't be at a big disadvantage. Lightweight climbing wheels only really shine when the road is steep and long, like if you...

Ah. Probably not. Enjoy that new seat!

    Performance Adjustable Headrest

I have one that I am not using. But because I am pretty short, at 5'5", it has been trimmed. The bars that extend into the frame had to be cut to allow me to insert them far enough into the frame. And I trimmed the adjustable upright bars because they sat low enough to straddle my rear tire...

Yeah, that kind of rack might not be best suited to these bikes, since they lack the top tube that rack is designed to cradle. I use a Kuat rack that cradles the front wheel, which all bikes have. I don't have a ready-made pic on my CB on the rack, so you get one of my hardtail. But my V20...

When I ride with friends on DF bikes, it can be so slow that I sometimes contemplate building up a mid-level DF bike just for such rides, to handicap myself like they are. But then I think of going back to the ass hatchet, the hunched shoulders, staring at the ground, working harder to go both...

    Front axle on V20c

Like most things Cruzbike, even this assembly gets easier with practice.

    Front axle on V20c

Can't say I've had that issue. Thru axles do sometimes need a little wiggling to line everything up as they slide through, toward the threads waiting on the other side. Hopefully you are just on a minor learning curve, and it will get easier.

New(to me) S40, first mbb, first ride in 18 months. What could possibly go wrong?

Yes. Clipless pedals make these bikes easier to ride. Enjoy the process.

@Libraman Welcome! Clipless pedals do make these bikes easier to ride. The feet are involved in the steering, whether clipped in or not; when they are clipped in they become a much more predictable and reliable part of the steering. It can seem scary being clipped in at first--like you have...

    2023 S40?

Well put. It really comes down to preference. 1 x 12 is great on my mtb. and gravel bikes. Never have I missed a front derailleur less. But on the V, two chainrings is a must for me. On a long, flat ride I will toggle mostly between a 52-13, 14, 15 as I encounter slight undulations and...

New(to me) S40, first mbb, first ride in 18 months. What could possibly go wrong?

My first ride on my V20 was seven years ago, and it was terrifying. I wobbled so much I'm pretty sure I did seven miles on a six mile road. Today, the V is my cycling drug of choice. It sounds like you're well on your way. Enjoy the ride, as it gets better and better.

    2023 S40?

I received an email from Cruzbike yesterday, promoting the S40. It said that new complete builds will start shipping on November 15th. It also mentioned "three new colorways," but nothing else in terms of changes. So it sounds like it will pretty much be the 2022 model in new colors, which...

    Seat questions (V20c)

I have found that several aspects of the CB fit take getting used to over time. For example, when I was starting out on the V, seven years ago, the front edge of the seat pan didn't feel like it was enough to keep me from sliding off the front, and I was often scootching myself back. But that...

    What am I missing here… V20 build

That is how all of my CB have lined up (V20c, V20, S30, S40). The good news, I hope, is that I've never had front derailleur shifting issues on any of these bikes. It perhaps looks worse to the eye than it really is. That said, I do run the pulley flipped the other way. The cable won't have...
