V20 Vendetta Gear setting and uphill

I am running 30-46 and 11-32 on a V20. Great for hills. Unfortunately, when ordering parts for my V20 build, I neglected to order some pro quality legs....

    Autumn in Seattle

Hmmm. Interesting. I am also not using any spacers and using the normal chain stay and have a top tube angle similar to that in the picture above. I could lower the angle a little more by cutting the steering tube, but have been too chicken to do that, since I am not sure if there is much...

    Some newbie questions.

So how does that affect gearing? Did swapping have any effect on hill climbing ability?

    Getting Off the Fence

Getting ready for winter rides. Running BFTs (big fat tires) and managed to recycle an old bike bag big enough to hold a full set of rain gear and a poly pro turtleneck. Because the only thing that sucks worse than getting caught in a squall is getting caught in a squall while changing a front...

Thanks! Looking for one... I thought so, but figured it would not hurt to ask.

How Many Watts Are Needed To Break The Current 24HR World Record?

Yikes! You guys are fast. My best is 20.1 mph over 20 miles on a flat course with no wind.

    Getting Off the Fence

Is it OK to use 18/25 tubes in a 28mm tire? Since I switched to the 28s, I do not think I will go back to the 23 or 25 tires. Which means I have a few tubes.... HELP! I am still having problems with rubbing the inside of my legs on the water bottle. (Mounted using the standard Cruzbike...

Looking to test ride a Vendetta in the Seattle Area!

I am 5 '8.5" and have a V20. Unfortunately, I am also 2.5 hours south of you, assuming you miss Seattle traffic, and Tacoma traffic, and Olympia traffic....

Another iteration of anti-flop device for S40

Interesting. I have been wondering if it would be possible to put two spiral springs in the head tube with enough tension to cancel wheel flop in each direction. The springs would need to designed such that the spring tension would increase with decreasing turn radius.

    Getting Off the Fence

Looks like I will need to wait for more info on the S40. Meanwhile, a few winter projects for the "V": 1) Experiment with different mirrors. 2) Another headrest mod. (It is actually quite comfy now, but want to reshape it so that it cradles my head more, so less likely to roll off to one...

Mt.Baker Hill Climb. Proof of concept

Interesting. Not too bad a drive for me. (SW WA) Currently running 30/46f x 11/32r so I have similar gearing, but probably not your legs. I do not race, but it would be fun to see how I stack up against others.

    Starting to assemble my Franken-T

Very interesting. So you now have an adjustable boom AND the ability to remove the front wheel without the need for 5 hands. I like this a lot. Suppose something like this could be on a Cruzbike anytime soon?

    Getting Off the Fence

Thanks. The obvious, simple solution that I completely missed. Of course, a rear facing camera feeding a helmet mounted HUD would be so very cool.....

    Getting Off the Fence

Recently installed this. Helps me keep an eye on Joe Six Pack in his jacked up pick um up truck. The problem, it looks ugly, makes it impossible to just open the hatch of the Escape and load the V20 in, and I keep bumping it into things. I suspect I will break it before summer is over...

    Getting Off the Fence

Thanks for the responses. Lots to think about. I wonder if the S40 is too much like the V20, perhaps making it more bike that I need for commuting. Guess we will need to wait and see what the new S40 is like. I am also taking a second look at the Q45. The problem with the Q45 for me is...

    Getting Off the Fence

The V20 is my replacement for my "go fast" bike, a Tarmac Pro. It has definitely solved the problems with hand, wrist, and neck pain from riding the Tarmac. The V20 is a keeper. It is so comfortable that I think I could fall asleep on it if I did not need to pedal. It is great to get out on...

    Curved Slider

Sooooo, I am thinking along the same lines. There have been comments on multiple threads about improving handling by lowering the bottom bracket. The only way for me to do that is to get a shorter chain stay. Unfortunately, that means my handlebars will rise, which I really do not want. I...
