    Front Disk

I'm gathering parts to do this conversion now. I ordered these wheels: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-08-WTB-Speed-Disc-ATB-Wheel-Set-Disc-Off-Road-Pr_W0QQitemZ380063303657QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item380063303657&_trkparms=72%3A1207%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14 and I'm...

    Low rider frame

Duncan, Mark is correct, we cannot economically offer the fork as a separate item. I have a lowrider 406 proto on my workstand now - interested in what you're considering. Best,

    First Flight

Most Excellent, Alan. Perhaps I need your granddaughter to do some training over at my house... Can't get my wife interested; she's very attached to her Vision. Don't understand these people who are happy with just one bike. :D

    Qrings

Well Done, Jack, Very interested in what you learn. They're super adjustable, and I'll be interested to find out where you select your optimum eccentric point to be. Best,

    Stem adapter for conversion kit

Correct, John, the threaded extension should not be needed with a quill adapter.

    Southern California Cruz-in

Hi Mark, I think this is a great idea. I am trapped on the east coast by a highly unpredictable "real job" at present. I suspect Socal is a great place to ride in the mid-to-late fall and I'd love to make it. How long does the good weather last in your neck of the woods? obe great to get John...

    Stem adapter for conversion kit

Hi Tom, Most of the WallyWorld bikes have a 1" threaded stem. This will require an adapter that looks like this: Here's one place to get one...

    Softrider V2 not available?

Hi Charley, The V2 will be available again; I would advise against ordering a V1 to upgrade because the V2 frame has many optimizations the V1 lacks. Stay tuned... and Be Well

    Crankset advice

I had a 170 50/34 on my Silvio when I rode the MS 150 in June. I find the 170mm crank perfect for my pedalling cadence: I have a 28 inch inseam. No pain with 170mm cranks. I now have a 170mm 52/42/30n on the bike and I am very happy. Crank length could be a multi-day discussion. Short cranks...

    Commute to work

Mark, I heard somewhere muscle is heavier than fat, so perhaps you are exchanging existing mass for more productive mass. The alternate characterization is that you are becoming more dense. But I would never say that. (In my case, the B in BMI stands for Bouyancy.) ;)

    New booms

Jack, Thanks very much for posting the picture. This may be an optical illusion in the photo; I moved it to an application to allow me to blow it up... It looks like the plane of the bolt head isn't parallel with the plane of the derailleur bracket. Is the fitting under the bolt symmetrical...

Looking for opinions on this potential donor

Excellent. Web search says the frame is 7005 aluminum. Nice, long, low top tube. Nice find. Here's the webskinny on it http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2001&Brand=Univega&Model=DS+700&Type=bike Best,

    Silvio Technical Summary

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. John understates how collaborative something like this is. That's one of the main things that sets Cruzbike apart - everyone who's shown interest and commented on the design has had an influence in its success. Now on to instruction sets... Best,

    Front Suspension

Hi Sean, The Freerider front shock is integral to the fork and the pressure isn't adjustable, unlike the mich more expensive Silvio part. While you could conceivably use a conversion kit to install a different fork, it seems like an awful lot of expense; you'd probably be close to Silvio...

    Mark's Silvio II shakedown ride

Hey Mark - Check the BB cups for tightness - usually the Campy square taper stuff tightens okay, but some of the others will creak unless the're really tight. Only other thing I can think of is maybe a pedal bearing? Those might quiet down under load but click in free-run if there's a piece of...

Congratulations on your resurrection! I am now committing to riding more, work be darned! Best,

    My next conversion

My secret - I love steel frames. Steel by a reputable manufacturer (e.g., TREK!) can be right there with aluminum and it's oh so much more forgiving. 650's will be VERY interesting...

    My next conversion

That's excellent. I don't know that there's a better hardtail frame that I've seen for seat placement. Is it aluminum?

    Darn Nice conversion crankset

Hi Sean, This will work very well as a Freerider V2 upgrade, and I'll tell you why I know. A couple of months ago it became painfully clear that our demand for Sofrider V2's was running considerably ahead of our production schedule (This is a good problem to have, but a problem nonetheless)...
