Confirmed: Mark B is an idiot

Heh heh, told ya... :D :D :D Seriously, glad this appears to be working out... now, if you can get her to let you keep the old Silvio or buy them out of it for salvage... how cool could some of those parts be when mixed with your kit bike parts...?????

Confirmed: Mark B is an idiot

Well, be kind to yourself - because the low-probabilities that combine to create accidents really don't care how smart you are. You were trying to help somebody out and that's what you were thinking about. Also, a higher power may have decided that He didn't care for your component selections...

    derailleur selection

Is most of the noise from the "rear", or front? Is the 105 derailleur a long cage one, and is the chain slack at any point in the shifting? When the rear derailleur is shifted into the lowest gear (largest cog) is the derailleur idler cage nearly parallel to the chainstays? I've heard of...

xseams and chain hitting derailler cage

Yep, the pictures are worth a thousand GB... You might also take a look at the clearance between the derailleur cage and the large chainring at the point where the red arrow sticker is. The pictures make it look like it might be a little generous, but that might just be me. I usually set that...

xseams and chain hitting derailler cage

Mark... (jeez, everyone in this thread is named Mark...) Jeebus... if you measure from the BB axle centerline to the "flat" section where the two seat shell halves meet, what is that distance? There's an adapter in development to address this problem, but I was able to make one for testing...

    Anatomy of a donor bike

Hello... " I am selfishly going the kit route because I enjoy projects. " You will be thoroughly entertained by the kit. The possibilities are many and you can build exactly what you want. You can go crazy mixing and matching parts. It turned into the best hobby I've ever had. "The Y on the...

    1st Annual Mid-Atlantic 'Bent Event-Baltimore Metro Area

I would be at this event with a van full of Cruzbikes except my family and I will be in Kyoto, Japan on vacation. I heartily encourage anyone on the east coast to consider this event - the bike infrastructure up there is excellent. Best,

    Right There...

HI Mark, What you've done is moved the entire bike closer to the geometry changes that were instituted in the V2 frame. Also, when you reverse the stem and then move the handlebar rise back toward the steering axis, you minimize tiller, which makes the steering work very nicely. More than about...

I Like it! Campy parts make for a nice, clean Silvio Howz it ridin' for ya?

adjusting Silvio for same angles as DF, put geek hats on!

Hi Harold, It is one of the greatest design challenges involved in these bicycles that front derailleurs are universally designed to operate with a chainstay angle (angle between the chainstay and the seat tube) of 63 to 68 degrees. When the TFT of a Cruzbike is adjusted, the chainstay angle...

    Front brake / suspension problem

Hi Magne, Peder has referred me to a picture of your bike. It's very nice indeed! I can see you've installed everything correctly. Thats a LONG travel on the front fork. Sometimes these forks aren't adjustable by a knob or the like, but you can make them effectively stiffer by shimming the...

    Front brake / suspension problem

Hi MagneO, There are couple of things we might need to look into here... First, did you turn the fork around 180 degrees before mounting the triangle brackets that hold the wheel to the fork? One of the first things we frequently encounter on kits that don't have the fork reversed is that the...

    Honda pilot

This bike converts very happily. Maria's original bike was built on this frame. Robert out in Washington built one also. The one downfall of this frame is that it is steel, and results in a bike that weighs around 40lbs. Otherwise it works quite well. Best,

Would this be a good donor bike?

Hi Sean, The older carbon Trek Y-frames are pretty cool in their own right; started a lot of trends in the MTB world. The fork is okay; what we're try to avoid there is the "triple tree" arrangement like used on motorcycles - those interfere with your knees. The frame will require care where...

    Rear suspension bottoming out.

Correction: John tells me the 24mm is the mounting bushing width, or how wide the mounting bracket on the frame is. Verified with a caliper to be 24mm on a V2 Freerider.

    Rear suspension bottoming out.

Hi Tim, 258 is the model number of the shock assembly, it's made by Kind Shock Hi-Tech Co Ltd. in Taiwan. 165mm is the nominal center-to-center length for the shock (mounting bolt center to bolt center), 850lbs is the spring rate (850lbs per inch of compression). 24mm is the nominal coil...
