Re: new Silvio
Nice, nice, nice!!!!!!!!!!!!
Again, Mark and my experiences parallel - but we have the same bars and brifters...
Are those Frogs (pedals?) That's what I have for mounting on my Silvio, but haven't yet...
well done - enjoy!
Wow, Rick,
You have no idea how helpful this info is.
Do you know if your disc is 140 or 160mm? Do you have any idea what the stacked thickness of the washers you used is?
Excellent, excellent, excellent!
Hi Victor,
What a great reason to build an Extracycle Cruzbike.
I have to echo everything that Mark and Jack said.
At the Yahoo group, there are some extracycle pictures in the photo album, if you've not already seen them.
"a) How necessary is dual suspension on a Cruzbike? I will be riding...
Re: V1 Rear quick release needed
Hi Gary,
The V1 has a 135mm rear hub spacing.
You will need a Wheels Manufacturing #11 or #12 axle (9.5 mm diameter) and a rear skewer (135mm).
I have sourced these parts from Harris Cyclery before. My V1 has a rear QR setup using a #12 axle, so I know it...
But I couldn't find one locally and I'm out of time to order one - MS150 this weekend.
I happened to visit my dad on the way home from work today, and he had this ready to throw in the trash:
It's a Folgers Instant Coffee container.
Hmmm... says I....
Behold! COFFEE-ROCKET! -...
Reid,
Mark is correct about the headset spacers - you'll need to use both of them or the headset will not tighten correctly.
E-mail me at hardtailcruzer@yahoo.com - I have created a set of photo-illustrated instructions in a PDF that hasn't been published yet, but I can email it to you.
Thanks
This is probably the nicest Sofrider V1 on the planet, my hotrodded V1 Prototype included in the comparison.
At $550, this is a steal. If I didn't have 12 bikes in the garage I'd buy it myself. The SRAM drivetrain parts work REALLY well on this frame, and the wheels are the defacto recumbent...
Showing my age here...
Back when we were racing sports cars, Koni (shock absorber company) used an active bump stop they called a "Silasto" to control the last inch of suspension travel. It was a silicone cone with a reverse-conical inner diameter. This made the car come to the end of its...
Hi Reid,
If you are running a triple on your Sofrider with no issues, you should be able to use a triple on your Silvio. Generally 6' riders don't have a problem. I'm 5'6" and the TFT is close to its minimum adjustment, making the chainstay angle nearly 90 degrees. This means I need an adapter...
Ahh yes, trying to clean up your language is not always a pretty thing...
The mirror is functional, it would just be better with a glass second-surface mirror like most bike mirrors, instead of the slightly-distorted metal surface it uses. A B&M Cyclestar would be a good alternative.
I second...
The Silvio is a very sleek package, and the bottle cages are perfectly positioned. To take advantage of this and still get a hands-free hydration solution, I used a Camelbak "BetterBottle" and the accessory "Hands-Free" adapter. Fits great and works a charm - I am adapting my tube director to...
Kamatu is right - and the quicker you can relax your shoulders the quicker everything will come together.
Don't spend a lot of time in anticipation before you get the bike - it's like worrying, and it will just complicate your first ride.
You'll get it, don't worry!
Best,
Hi Reid,
The bike is not really designed for a triple. That being said, if you are tall enough, a triple will work. People with a short x-seam will experience chain interference with the derailleur on the lowest chainring using a 52-42-30 crankset. My x-seam on this bike is about 40 inches, and...
Hi Mark,
Having short legs infers having short arms; moving the bars back also raises them. I also am running the bars for a little more arm-bend than the classic Silvio posture; that will change as I get more familiar with the bike.
Right now I'm trying to get as comfortable as possible for...
Hi,
That's why we turn the fork around backwards and use a set of adapter brackets to allow the 135mm rear hub to attach to the 100mm front dropout. The adapter brackets have an offset that allows this to happen.
Thanks,
Doug
Hey Bill,
Sorry, I seem to have missed this post.
If the fork "crown" has rubber plugs on each side, you can pry those out and there should be a nut down in the hole as I remember. Place eveything so you wont get hit if something comes loose, and back the nut out on both sides with a...
Finally: MY first Sivio Ride!!!!!!!!!!!
As you know, I assembled Bryan Ball's review bike, but couldn't get it to fit me properly with parts chosen for his x-seam. Torture, to put it together, tune it out, sit on it, put it in back in the box and ship it out...
After some period of parts...
