    Just a taste

Hi Nanda, I ran into the same limit problem for the rear derailleur. The derailleur hanger is very thick to make it strong - that offsets the derailler to one side and exceeds the limit screw capacity. I robbed a limit screw from an inexpensive derailleur (like a TD-one from a walmart bike)...

    Subscribing

My brilliant daughter who manages a few of these forums on other topics says you can subscribe to the forums you want to track (or all of them) using the User CP. I'm gonna try it out.

    Planning Ahead

Re: Planning Ahead - Hydration Mark, I'm working an a variation on a "fanny pack" to hold a hydration bladder under the seat pan. you could also use one on either side or both. This would clear the seat back for other stuff or bittles if desired. Doug

    Ooow! My Legs!

Hi RIck, Clipless pedals help, but try this first... A lot of folks set the TFT up too long at first, causing you to stretch your calves. This is where the "pointy-toes" feeling frequently comes from. Try bringing the top tube adjustment in about an inch to 2 inches and ride the bike again...

More Campy Bike. I've decided to wait for the WTB bars and the experimental rear elastomer to show up. Heck, even my trash looks cool these days :D

How wet do water filled pot holes make you? And where?

Hi Jon, Recumbents can soak you from the front. Sofriders and Freeriders accept MTB fender sets; you can use a fork fender in the front or one of those "mudboard" types that attaches to the downtube. The Silvio is well-served by "raceblade" type fensders that attach to the fork blades and seat...

    Assembly of Silvio

Hello Peder, I have a set of photos that I intend to use to create an enhancement to the assembly instructions. They are currently confined to the assembly of the parts included with the frame and do not include component installation, which is being developed as I work on the current bike...

    44 bar / campag

Nice find, John... Do these suppliers list US dealers or alternate sources where we can get these parts? The array of parts available in Taiwan is amazing (as you of course know) and there's so much produced there that we in the US never see (to be a bit geocentric). Continue to enjoy...

    Taipei Cycle Show Display Bike

So that's the "Jenny" of song and story? How wonderful to put a face with the name, and all the great things she's done for us. Please extend my regards, I have nothing but admiration for how she's helped these dreams move from CAD to reality with such elegant execution. John, you could show a...

    44 bar / campag

I should have a WTB bar here mid-week. I had planned to use it on bike#2, but I may update the review bike with it instead. The review bike currently has 46cm drop bars. Another interesting twist is that several of the 46cm bars I saw advertised were measured "outside to outside". This is...

    Ease of seat adjustment

Kamatu... You'll find the bike very tolerant of loading and the slight change in weight bias it results in. I don't think you'll need to make any engineering considerations for what you have in mind. My red bike starts out with 63% rear weight bias and rides fine. The "XtraCruz" arrangement...

Many Faces of the Red Bike

Thanks very much for the comments, gentlemen... The gearing works very well. in the 34/32 combo, I've not encountered a hil that I couldn't navigate. These bikes don't need as low a granny gear as many others due to the potential for arm input and the recruitment of additional muscle groups...

    Build Questions

Mark, I think you will find that even after you finish building your Silvio and are happily riding it, you will still encounter a temptation to play around with your kit bike. The things that I have consumed the most of fiddling with my kit bikes are cables and cable housings. I buy housing in...

Many Faces of the Red Bike

Hi Rick, These photos show the bike as it is now. The bars I settled on are Dimension alloy riser bars, 660mm wide, 95mm rise, 40 degree sweep. A close approximation to the bar provided on the Sofrider. The tweener bars caused me a lot of stress in my shoulders, and the bar/hand angle that...

Many Faces of the Red Bike

Very True. I love this bike. I used 700x28c tires on this bike, it was designed to do long distance charity rides well. Think of it as a bike equivalent of Burt Rutan's "Voyager", the first plane to circumnavigate the world without stopping or refuelling. It was designed to take my meager power...

    Photo Albums

Hello All, The Yahoo Group has some excellent and valuable photos in its album structure. While I'm going to maintain the group as it is, I'd like to see most of our activity transfer to this forum. Since there's no "album" functionality here, I tried putting the contents of an album into a...
