Search for a folding donor bike part 2

Just ignore me... I forgot that the fork is rotated 180 degrees to install the conversion kit. This will place the new adapter and its clamps on the same section of the suspended area of the fork. I was concerned that there may be cross mounting of the adapter in the original dropouts while the...

Search for a folding donor bike part 2

Suspension fork issue, possibly? I can't fully tell from the pics, but the first thing that came to my mind was whether or not the flexing of the suspension changes the length of the chainline when using the conversion kit. I guess if it does then you'll need to figure out if the derailleur...

    I was an Instructional Designer

Nope Andrew, I'm just a salesman My thought was that with this community as broad as it is that we could serve as ears to the ground for you to see what we could scare up for you. If you are used to working in elearning, how vital is geographic location? Are you on LinkedIn? That is a...

Relocation an option? Andrew, Are you willing to leave SC, or at least central SC, to find your next assignment? Also, it would help us to help you if we knew of your experience. Jerry

Silvio 2.0 and 27 Degree Seat Angle

Rampa, your idea has merit... except, a turnbuckle has one screw threaded right and one threaded left. I don't know of any off the shelf PVC or other pipe that is threaded left. I sure don't know of any unions threaded both ways. The turnbuckle idea is a good one.

    damaged my boom...help, doug!

I could be wrong, but... I have always been told to use something to prevent seizing when joining threaded dissimilar metals. So I would think your suggestion would be spot on Gary...but listen to Doug on this, not me!

Silvio front triangle on softrider or conversion why not?

Recent upgrades The bend at the BB of the Silvio and V booms are a recent modification. IIRC they were done to lower the BB position which is supposed to improve aero and pedal positioning. Or I could be completely wrong. It has happened before. Once.

    My Pine Conversion

Bamboo perhaps? I know, I know, not officially "wood"...but the cross section pic above reminded me of something. Somewhere I once saw a DF bike frame made from bamboo that IIRC was supposed to be close to CF in strength and weight. This does not look familiar though it has been a while...

    My Pine Conversion

Nice, clean, simple, brilliant So basic it makes total sense! Looking forward to hearing how it rides in the 150. In looking at the rear "swingarm" (for lack of a better term), I wonder if suspension was needed if it could be done by enlarging the bolt hole closest to the seatpan...

Bike Friday Family Tandem -> 2 wheel drive IPS Cruzbike tandem?

Steve has a great point Mock up in wood, that is. Used to have a customer in NC that would first mock up in wood anything he planned to build from steel. He built full size, not to scale, as he wanted to see full functionality before putting torch or welder to steel. His reasoning? Wood is...

Flying uphill in Oklahoma on my Silvio

    My Vendettas

A guess... "What are the short pipes just beneath the main frame where the rear stays joins the bottom of the main downtube?" If I had to guess, I would say an anchor point to assist in welding up the frame - a jig positioning point. But that's just a guess. Looking good John!

    First Ride Skyway Bridge

Pinellas Trail info Phil, it looks like the Pinellas Trail runs into downtown St Pete. I thought it went closer to the Skyway. Here is a link to a map of the trail. Perhaps you could drive to the trailhead and ride it?

    First Ride Skyway Bridge

Skyway? Wow. The Skyway bridge will let you know how good a climber a CruzBike is for sure! Nice video, and I agree that you made a good choice of music. Looks like the ride was enjoyed. Do you plan on trying it again sometime, and following the Pinellas trail all the way up the county?

Location Phil, Not near St Pete. In Clearwater, just across the Bay from Tampa International Airport. There is a trail (Pinellas Trail) that runs the entire length of Pinellas County N-S. It starts in south St Pete and runs through Seminole and points north. There is also the Progress...
