I have CF, Alu, Steel bikes. I've ridden a number of Ti (and a lot of other CF, Alu/Steel) bikes. The design matters more than the material. ;)

Superior? I'm very careful with that phrase. More bang for the buck? Sure. On the other hand, I'd wager dollars to doughnuts that my 27deg Silvio is faster around where I am. It is all about the tradeoffs-- the S40 looks to be a better offering for the money.

@Layne You can recline the S40 somewhat by having a 700c wheel in front and a 26" (i.e. smaller) wheel in the rear so long as you use disc brakes. This isn't much more annoying than most recumbent's different front/rear wheelsizes anyway...

For sure the S40 looks to be cheaper to produce (I can't imagine that the suspension parts of the S30 line were in any way cheap, and they looked like they'd be annoyingly difficult to build/source). I'd bet that for most people the S40 is a better bike, especially for the money. I just loved...

Unfortunately I'm stuck with the old-style bottom-bracket mounts/rings/whatever on my S30, so the rounded shoulders seem like a poor idea. If/when I get my hands on an upgrade for the S30(s) that let me mount rounded-shoulder BB, I'm there... Edit: And Darn!

One of my other bikes is a P-38. I keep wondering if I should get the fairing retrofitted... (but I keep spending my time making my S30 better ;) )

'Jammer' tri-shorts (which are also swimming) work quite well. Spandex/lyrca, etc. with the appropriate modesty paneling/liners to prevent chafing. Perfect for 'bents, though I prefer 2015's models to this year's.
