Bikes, Blues and Bayous coming up 8/01

Tell her she can ride the 11-miler with my husband and teenaged son, and sit in the shade afterward to wait for you. The forecast is for a low of 68 degrees, and a high of "only" 93. ReklinedRider and I are doing the 46-mile--I really want to see the Minter City rest stop, with the white...

Vendetta V1.5 for sale in Ontario

I can kind of relate. I've had my Q451 a little over a year, ridden about 500 miles, and I still don't feel comfortable clipping in. I tried it after a couple of months of getting used to the bike, because some of the guys here said it helped them with stability and control. However, after...

    How bikes stay upright

Even after three or four months with my Q451, I was still seriously considering a steering dampener, especially on significant downhills or when pushing hard on the flats. By six months, I no longer felt the need for it. The Silvio 1.5 was so much more stable for me from the start, that a...

First Silvio ride was a wash...literally

What Ratz said above was exactly what made me change it the way I did. The ring felt bigger, later, than I wanted it to be. I needed the "hard part" to come just a little bit earlier. I've done an 18-mile and a 20-mile ride since the test ride. My cadence for each was in the 75 to 77 rpm...

    Needing help with Vendetta

Sam Patterson (he of the Patterson Metropolis crankset) used all manner of lubricants and techniques to get the BB cups loose from my Hase Kettwiesel (corroded aluminum threads, he said). Marvel Mystery Oil, AeroKroil, beeswax, heat expansion...it took him several weeks of soaking and coaxing...

First Silvio ride was a wash...literally

Another month on: The long-cage X7 RD is installed and working well. The front shifting is much more reliable, though there's still a bit of chain rub. After riding the Q-rings at OCP #2 for a couple of hundred miles, I thought the big ring/smaller cog combos still felt lumpy, so I rotated the...

Water Bottle Mounts on Silvio 2

I added a strip of adhesive-backed Velcro between the rubber part of the Quick Cage and the boom before riding the 25 Miles of Mayhem. Worked like a charm. The cage didn't slip at all, and I can still remove and replace it if I need to.

    25 Miles of Mayhem

I was only about 100 yards from the top at that point. That was worth a grin!

    25 Miles of Mayhem

A ride report for us shorter-distance types: Had fun riding the "25-mile" route at the 100 Miles of Mayhem Saturday in Madison County, Miss. Nice rolling course, no flat stretches to speak of. Cavalier Hill is the high spot, with about 130 feet of climbing over a half-mile. I remembered what...

    Quest 451 2.0 - Jackson, Miss.

Selling my Q451 2.0. I bought it new one year ago (late May 2014). The components are stock: SRAM DualDrive 3 x 9, 11-28 cassette, 42T Cruzbike e-ring, Kenda Kwest 28-451 tires, Avid brakes. I added a Zéfal Spy Mirror, a Zéfal bottle cage on the seat back, the Cruzbike heavy-duty rear rack...

Water Bottle Mounts on Silvio 2

How do you like having the bottle cage in that location? Saturday morning, I tried mounting my TwoFish Quick Cage on the boom in that position, with my 12-ounce water bottle. I thought I had the Velcro tight enough...until I crossed the railroad tracks, whereupon the bottle cage tried to...

Introducing the family to the Q

Last time I went to my hometown to visit family, I took the Q451 along to show them. None of them had ever seen a recumbent of any sort up close, much less heard of Cruzbikes, so they didn't know it was "hard to ride." My brother, after a couple of "whoa" moments, was able to start off without...

    Social Riding Your Cruzbike

I participate in very few social rides, mostly because I have to load up the bike and drive 30 minutes or more on busy highways to get to one, whereas I have plenty of quiet country roads close to home. So when I do venture out, I prefer to ride *with* people. Since I got the Silvio, I've...
