    Cruzbike School is open Again

We need to figure out when/where to meet up so y'all can try the Q451. I'm 5'5", with a 30.5" inseam and 40.5" x-seam, and my feet touch the ground easily. My teenaged daughter is 5'2". I'll have her try the Q out this afternoon.

Who here is attending the Ride in Mississippi

I have a Q451, as you can see in my avatar (cat not included). I have its e-ring on my Silvio at the moment (boring story), but I'm going to put the Silvio's 34T Q-ring on the Quest so it'll be rideable for the rally. You're welcome to try it out.

I am! I live about 20 miles from Flowood and RideSouth.

First Silvio ride was a wash...literally

Took the Silvio for a half-hour ride with the e-ring Tuesday. Not bad, just a little lumpy. Adjusted it this afternoon. Better--not optimal, but it's only going to be on there another week and a half, so it'll do. Even so, I'm matching or slightly exceeding my road bike speeds, even on the...

First Silvio ride was a wash...literally

The Bike Rack is the closest traditional LBS to me, so I use them most of the time. I've taken the Kettwiesel to Indian Cycle once, and had Revolution out to the house when several of the bikes needed work at the same time.

First Silvio ride was a wash...literally

Lief, by their own admission, none of the mechanics can do much more than wobble across the parking lot. I keep offering to bring my Quest and teach them how to ride it, but no one's taken me up on it yet. :D I was in the LBS end of last week, talking with a young mechanic I hadn't met before...

First Silvio ride was a wash...literally

Robert, in their defense, they couldn't get the derailleur low enough to accommodate the 46T outer ring I had on there originally. They told me when I picked the bike up that they weren't pleased with the shifting, calling it "acceptable" but not good. It shifted correctly the first time or two...

First Silvio ride was a wash...literally

It was raining when I picked my new-to-me Silvio 1.5 up from the LBS yesterday, so I was determined to get at least a short ride in this afternoon after work. I hadn't been on the road more than 10 minutes when dark clouds started moving in from the north. I turned for home and started trying to...

    Front Shifting on Silvio 1.5

I can ask them. They do carry a lot of mountain bikes, so they might have one on hand. Another option would be to see if I could exchange the 46T Q-ring for a 50T Q-ring. I wasn't sure if I could handle that big a gear--I never used the 52T round ring on my road bike triple, staying almost...

    Front Shifting on Silvio 1.5

The specs on the X9 derailleur claim it only fits up to a 42T outer ring. I won't say I'm "comfortable" cutting the frame, but that sounds like the best overall solution. Now to figure out how to contact Steve on this new forum...

    Front Shifting on Silvio 1.5

I just got my Silvio 1.5 back from being built up at the LBS. The mechanic told me that they could only get the front shifting to be "acceptable" instead of "very good," By "acceptable," he apparently meant "will shift from small to large ring only when the chain is on one of the two smallest...

Rear derailleur special hanger blot and nut question

Oh, and an old video from Oh, and an old video from Bike Friday actually showing the clickbox installation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4ZlZToLfas

Rear derailleur special hanger blot and nut question

Clickbox installation The clickbox was kind of a nuisance to install, and I'm still not good at it. But once on correctly, it stays on. It's nice being able to shift the DualDrive while stopped--especially when I've had to stop unexpectedly, or on a hill, and need a much lower gear for...

Moderator? Is there a way to report spam posts and have them taken down? (or at least change their avatar to that SPAM can? hehe) Do we even have an official moderator? Or should I assume that the good folks @ Cruzbike read the forums just like we do, and take spam postings down when they run...

Trying to decide on a quest or sofrider..... maybe the new model?

No Sofrider? I hadn't even noticed the Sofrider was gone. I suspect, given the versatility of the Q559, that there was a good bit of overlap between it and the Sofrider. The DualDrive and disc brakes on the Quest were a selling point for me as well. It's great to be able to pop that DualDrive...

Trying to decide on a quest or sofrider..... maybe the new model?

Like my Q451 I've been riding a Quest 451 since last May. I'm only 5'5", so I wanted to make sure I had a lower bottom bracket and seat height, where I could get both feet on the ground easily if I started to wobble. I really like the Q now that I'm more proficient handling it. I can ride it on...
