So you want to train with power on a budget?

Among other possible solutions, if plain vanilla circular is ok for you (ooh, how quaint, I still have circular chainrings!) chainrings, there is also the powertap chainring system, but it is limited to 36 tooth at the smallest I think. for power on a budget I have good experience with really...

First Impressions of the Big Yellow Vendetta V1.5

steve, which hole is the bolt joining the top of the steerer to the cage under the silver boom going through? I managed to get mine though the second rearmost one, with the steerer clamp facing forward. I did have to file a mm or so of metal off the top edge of the steerer clamp, because the...

Need a Skewer to Fit the Drive Wheel to my Trainer

Yes i saw the 199 ones but the head is not round to fit in the left trainer cone, and being an external can type will be a point contact to the cone and might get damaged. Do you use such skewers on your trainer ratz?

Need a Skewer to Fit the Drive Wheel to my Trainer

Hi ratz, i don't quite follow what you mean. The probe is that the front dropouts of the v1 and 1.5 are quite thick as both the fork and the chain stays overlap there. An extra long skewer is required, longer than a mtb one. John Tolhurst posted a while back that the skewer needs to be 10-15mm...

Who would like a: Cruzbike Fantasy TT Series??????

Nice and calm (but a bit foggy) this morning, I had a go at the 40km out and back (actually it is from my house south to a roundabout, north to a turnoff at 20.5km turnaround, back to the roundabout, turnaround and head home. Not very fast (yet!) but I think a good effort: 40.25km, 1h04m21sec...

    Vendetta V20

I have a 1.5 medium, am 6' ( 183cm) tall. I have no problems with stability at speed. Best speed to date (downhill! I'm no superman.) has been i think 64km/h or so. i feel the medium is maxed our at my size, a the boom is for ced down the further out the bb is set. With your extra 5cm height, i...

    My Vendetta adventure

The bending stress on the brake bolt depends on the distance from the brake track to the bolt. Making a longer bolt does not change this. What does change is the deflection at the tip of the brake bolt, since that deflection depends on the bending moment applied and the length of the bolt. So...

Hi Jond (and Larry if you're reading), if you have a bunch of power metered laps data, could you post the data file and if known, the temperature and elevation and perhaps location/ date (so i can look up the pressure), then i can run the numbers though r Chung cda calculation method to come up...

Trek Releases new bike that can keep up with the V20

The icaro helmets are rather heavy (close to 1kg if i recall correctly) because the en966 helmet test standard requires resistance to a much harder impact with a 60 degree, 1mm tip radius cone, which essentially dictates a very tough shell. I know this because i had to research the issue to get...

So you want to train with power on a budget?

the most extreme fibre of a beam (i.e. the part of the beam furthest from the centreline) is the one with the largest strain. Measuring where the strain is largest makes sense to me, because then the signal to noise ratio will be best. Where they glued it in the DC rainmaker video makes sense in...
