    S40 newbie questions

It sounds like you are well on your way. Enjoy the process, as it is almost a kind of initiation. Good to hear from a fellow wheel builder. It's such a satisfying job.

    S40 newbie questions

@rdl03 The idea with the headrest is to have the pad contact the knob at the base of the skull, but not so much the neck bones and tissues beneath that knob. The skull is pretty tough, while the neck is rather delicate. I am attaching some pics to show how I bent the headrest slightly...

    V20 Bottom Bracket

I'm coming up on 900 miles on my bbinfinite bottom bracket. Easy to install. No complaints. Bearings spin nicely. It should outlast me.

    S40 newbie questions

@rdl03 First, welcome! I started riding Cruzbikes (a V20) seven years ago, out of desperation that my angry lower back was about to knock me off the bike permanently. I took a chance, built up a sweet V20, spent the next month wondering if I had made an expensive mistake, stuck with it anyway...

    S40 2022

Robert Holler at Cruzbike would probably be the one to ask. You can email him at robert@cruzbike.com

Is a V20c suitable for my planned use?

I've owned a V20, S30, and S40, and here's a silly thing that I like about the V20: In tight, super-slow settings (like the deck of a ship), where you're not riding the bike, but moving with it through people and public structures, its flatter seat recline makes it the easiest of the Cruzbikes...

A second V20c build and ride impressions

Hi @BikeGary Here are pics for mounting my Tubus rack. The lower mount is straightforward, as there are threaded holes on each of the rear dropouts. I used a 5mm aluminum spacer on each side, and it all lined up well. The top mount is a little trickier (but not too much). First, I...

    Silvio 2.1 bag advice

@Watsuking That is a Lezyne Flow Caddy--a lightweight, bone-simple plastic canister for tire repair stuff that fits into a bottle cage. Put your repair supplies in the middle of a shop rag, roll that up, and stick it into the caddy. Nothing rattles and I have easy access...

    Silvio 2.1 bag advice

I won't try to talk you into putting a rack on your Silvio, but it is what I did, and rather like the way it came out. I didn't want something big and heavy, so I went with a Tubus Airy, made of titanium. I like the more minimalist look and how it tapers in toward the top. As racks go, it...

    Seat Angle?

Correct. The V20's seat has a 20-degree incline from the horizontal. The S40...40-degrees incline from horizontal.

2022 Vendetta V20c with carbon fiber front end

After riding 25mm Schwalbe Pro Ones for years on my V20, I switched to 30mm Pro Ones on my V20c. Strava seems to think that they are at least as fast as their skinnier cousins, but what I notice most is the smoother ride on the mixed-quality road surfaces I've been dealt where I live. And on a...

    Trim for speed

@vosadrian, I did experience a bit of what you describe as a lengthening of gearing when going downhill, and I did enjoy that. But I lost a bit at the other end when going up hill, and my knees didn't enjoy that too much. I did run the same chainrings, yes. Part of my crank length preference...

    Trim for speed

Seven years ago I started with 165mm cranks on my V20 because they were readily available. Then, with a little looking, I found 160mm cranks, liked them better, and rode those for a long time. Of course, I began to wonder if 155mm cranks would be even better, but didn't want to pay a lot of...

    Trim for speed

Anecdotal experience from a guy who rides purely by feel and doesn't even know what CdA stands for: I rode my V20 with a short 16-inch chain stay and curved slider for six years. Now I'm riding a V20c with the stock medium chain stay and straight slider (they don't offer a short stay in...

Sold. Unused Vendetta 20c wheels and build kit. $1,100.00, incl. U.S. shipping.

Hi Kurt, I just replied to your PM, before seeing this. Your V20 does have I.S. brake tabs, but I did find this adaptor with a short search: https://www.assolutions.ca/shop/adapters/flat-mount-adapter-for-is-frame/ Looking forward to hearing from you, Craig

Power Meter Recommendations- might need new Crankset

Hi Kurt, SRAM and Shimano use different bottom brackets. They look similar, but they aren't. Shimano uses a straight 24mm crank spindle, while SRAM's GXP spindle is 24mm on one end and 22m on the other.

Has anyone done a speed comparison between the S40 and V20?

Purely anecdotal, non-scientific evidence here, but... My S30 has always been on par with my V20, both on flats and in the hills. Both bikes have similar builds. The V20 always feels faster because my head is that much closer to the ground, but then Strava shows me that the S30 is just about...

Electronic Shifting and Replacing Brifters on the v20

I heartily believe all of the positive press about electronic shifting (fast, effortless shifts, easy set-up, a cleaner look, etc.). However... In my 35 years of cycling, properly adjusted mechanical drivetrains have never let me down, and mechanical shifting is not appreciably slower. If a...

2022 Vendetta V20c with carbon fiber front end

I asked @Robert Holler similar questions before the V20c was set for release. He told me back then that there would be two chain stay lengths--the standard length that ships with the bike, and a longer one. I would guess that the longer stay would become available around the same time the...

@cruzKurt , you are correct. Had Cruzbike been offering just framesets for that first order, I would have gone that way. But they were only offering complete bikes, so I had to decide if I wanted to wait (no), or spend more now, in hopes of recouping some of the over-cost a little later...
