I've bent a chainring before, just from heavy climbing. Sometimes it happens. I'd consider it a trophy of awesomeness :) (It is possible it has been bent since your fall and the way you had everything adjusted, you just didn't notice. The shop may still be right in telling you that it is bent).

Martinius-- I've considered using some kind of other material for the cam as well, and may try it, but suspect that it would either break quickly, or would cause resistance to tilting at any tilt angle, which would be undesirable.

Very nice! If you can fit a Silvio and 700c wheels in a Co-Motion travel case, you can probably fit 26" wheels and the quest as well. Worth a shot if you can bring it over to a place that has one locally and just try it out...

As a data point w.r.t. climbing gears, I did the whole east coast with a lowest gear of 50 (front) ->36 (rear) on a Silvio. I found that (much) higher gearing than you expect is what you want. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the 34 inner chainring is too small. When I get a chance, I'll...
