Trying to deal with Recumbutt on Silvio 1.5

When I added the 100mm extension to my original S1.0 I added 200mm of chain and did not have to change the FD cable. From what I can see from your pics bubbabent I think you may benefit from cutting the steertube to get your hands down and also from installing a 100mm extension. As I mentioned...

Trying to deal with Recumbutt on Silvio 1.5

BJ686, that solution would have made my situation worse. On my S1.0 recumbutt was due to the underside of my thighs coming into contact with the seat pan due to a low crank height. Extra padding would have increased contact. My solution was to raise the crank height.

Trying to deal with Recumbutt on Silvio 1.5

Dan, cranky is correct. I added 200mm of chain when I installed the extension. There should be quick links both sides of the added chain.

Trying to deal with Recumbutt on Silvio 1.5

bubba, I had issues with my S1.0. They resolved when I added a 100mm extension and got boom adjusted well. It worked like magic for me. Im 5'10" and sold the S1.0 to Dan who is shorter than me. As far as I know he is still using the extension with good results.

    Post-Surgery Fitness Loss

Thanks all for the encouragement and fast healing and recovery to you injured. I went out for ride #2 yesterday and what a difference a day (week) makes. Granted the ride started out 20 degrees cooler and temps ended 10 degrees cooler but there was a remarkable difference. Went 10 miles with...

    Post-Surgery Fitness Loss

I had some vascular surgery on my left leg on 6/15 and, after he asked if I was capable of taking it easy, was cleared by my doc to start moderate aerobic activity a week ago. On Friday morning 7/15 exactly a month from my procedure I went out for a spin. I rode a 20 mile out and back on the...

Website suggestions for educating self re: Rotor Q rings

FWIW - I ride round rings and have a 40T cog on my hill riding cassette. I use 34-36 without any difficulty and use 34-40 as my bail out gear. It is above stall speed for me (3.5-5mph) but wander on the road a little more and have to pay a lot more attention riding next to others when going...

silvio 1.0 derailleur hanger poor fit issue

Zzzorse, did you drill and tap a hole into the bottom of the chainstay (and hangar?) to insert a keeper of sorts? If so, that looks like a great solution for S1.0-2.1 models to keep the hangar in place during wheel changes.

silvio 1.0 derailleur hanger poor fit issue

Looks like the right hangar to me. I agree with slim - separate the fork and chainstay, place the circular section into the slot in the chainstay and reassemble the fork and chainstay. You should be good to go.

    Silvio ready to roll

Ill cast another vote for the Redline Microline. It is available from 135mm through 165mm. I used the calculator above and arrived at 140-145. Purchased the crank arms and bottombracket for around $100. Have it set up for a single chainring but a little filing as others have done will...

A Proposed Method to Fight Cancer: Starve it.

Jim, I think your proposal has considerable merit. Are you planning on submitting for funding? Looking for a research manager? One thing you might want to consider is the possible effect of severe induced hypoglycemia on erythrocyte function. Erythrocytes rely almost exclusively on...

measure or put some tape on the boom and slider to mark your current position. Then extend the boom and move the bars toward you by the same amount until your comfy. Make small 1/2" or so adjustments until you get it where you get it right.

Cranky, welcome to the tribe! +1 on the training drills ratz posted the link to above. I jumped on and started riding my S1.0 and was pedaling immediately. When I took a step back and went to the parking lot drills I got way more familiar with the bike and my handling improved tremendously...
