    Wobbly rear end

I just bought and installed I just bought and installed new bearings for the rear wheel and this also stiffened the rear end. After 5500 miles the rear bearings were very choppy and loose.

    Wobbly rear end

i will check the spoke i will check the spoke tension tomorrow. A fix that I have been using the past two days with great results is actually a riding style adjustment! I got to thinking that if the contact force between the back tire and the ground is causing a moment and twisting the frame...

    Wobbly rear end

it is noticable/detrimental it is noticable/detrimental in two ways. The first is taking sharp turns. While taking sharp turns it feels like the back end slides out of the turn. The second is riding with weight on the rear rack. With a couple pounds of cargo on the rack, the back of the...

    Wobbly rear end

Image an axis that runs threw the hub of the rear wheel and is parallel to the bike's straight direction of travel. The rear end of my Quest 1.0 is very torsionally flexible. I can stand to the left of the bike, grab the left handlebar with my left hand and the top of the rear tire with my...

    Squeaky Frame Suspension Joint

Thanks for the info, Steve. Thanks for the info, Steve. So i took a look at the joint and noticed that all it takes is an 8 and 10mm wrench to take it apart! No ball bearings falling all over the place, too. I've been scared of taking it apart forever for fear of not putting it back together...

    Squeaky Frame Suspension Joint

When it rains and I ride, a lot of dirty water gets thrown onto the back of the seat and around the frame suspension joint. After one rainy spell about 2 months ago my Quest 1.0 start emitting a terribly loud squeaking/scratching noise. I thought at first that it was the sound of the back edge...

    Quest 559 experiences and modifications

Those are some crazy mods, Those are some crazy mods, Dave. You seem to want to tip the whole riding position forward (a long BB and larger rear wheel). Why would you want to do this? That would seemingly increase aerodynamic drag.

    Adjusting the rear suspension

rotating the top outer rotating the top outer plastic shell doesn't seem to change anything. Does the bottom section of the shock have to rotate as well? It looks like it does in order to rotate about the thread bolt on the bottom.

    Adjusting the rear suspension

So I know that the stiffness of the rear shock (Kind Shock Kspeed 261) can be adjusted by rotating the outer shell, but which way do you rotate it? Please specify whether you are looking at the shock from the top or the bottom. Thanks

    Lost braking ability

Really? What are the pads made of? I don't want to ruin a knife trying to take the corners off...

    Lost braking ability

Partial success! The rear pads did indeed have unused corners that meet when I squeeze the brakes. I will grind those down when I can get into a machine shop. The front brake did not have the unused corners. I tightened all the housing and readjusted everything with modest results.

    Lost braking ability

Great suggestions Peter: I will check the housing soon Shakey: Thanks for the suggestions, I will definitely look into the 'unused corners' problem you mentioned. Sorry for taking so long to respond. I forgot I posted this and there doesn't seem to be any notification...

    Quest 1.0 frame flex

After riding my Quest 1.0 for more than a year, I have started to notice flame flex more than ever before. It feels like there is a considerable amount of relative rotation between the front triagle and the handlebars. I thought it might be because of loose bolts, fittings, etc., but after...

    Lost braking ability

I've lost most braking strength with my Quest 1.0 recently. The pads don't appear to be too worn, but I cannot get the black part that holds the pads close enough towards the frame to get the adjustment right. I can fully compress the brake handles in the front and rear and have very little...
