    Sizing conundrum

I'm 6'2"+ with a longer Xseam. I'm on a medium and it works great. The only difference is actually the chainstay length. The large chainstay essentially only raises your feet a bit over the medium. All of the rest of the geometry is basically unchanged. Threw me off to be a medium as well.

    Evolving Wooden Chainstay

Billy K's thread about testing the flex of his Quest frame is really interesting... and he wants to see my wooden chainstay... so, Mr. K., this is the best I can do! My bike has a lot of non-stock parts; I built two of the major pieces. The seat was built first and that story is in another...

Possible to mod for gates carbon drive and internal hub?

Here's an example of a telescoping adjustable length item. This is for automotive camber adjustment. Although, I would prefer a simpler system that seems to be used on most of these carbon drive belts, the sliding bolt arrangement. It may be possible to incorporate this type of sliding...

Possible to mod for gates carbon drive and internal hub?

This comes apart so a belt can go on and off right (in red)? I think the suspension travel is going to be irrelevant because it won't change the length of the chainstay + extension/tensioner (green).

Help with Silvio 1.0 setup please

I cant correct the problem You should be able to do both at once: loosen both the upper and lower boom clamps (and loosen the bottom bracket ring clamps, and the front wheel skewer so you aren't flexing the chainstay). Lengthen the boom a bit at the lower clamp to give knee clearance, and...

Help with Silvio 1.0 setup please

From the 1.0 manual:Arm and From the 1.0 manual: You don't mention loosening the BB (bottom bracket) ring clamps, or the front wheel skewer. It's important to do that in addition to loosening one of the clamps on the boom, otherwise you are bending the carbon fiber chainstay (part of the...

    New Silvio build.

Just FYI, I've been pretty Just FYI, I've been pretty happy with my all-SRAM-Rival setup. I just wish I had gone with shorter cranks (165mm or 170mm instead of the 172.5mm I got) and I might benefit from some chainstay extension given my leg length (~45 inch x-seam). - 50x34 compact...

    Short Crank Arms

I agree with Johns I agree with Johns observation and I have a similar issue. This sort of fit challenge is not uncommon, but on some recumbents it is not an issue (like on a stick highracer) because your legs are on the other side of the handlebars eliminating the need to account for the "foot...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

In an ideal world ... Yep, In an ideal world ... Yep, and it's always hard not to feel like we are peeing in the pool. Don't take it that way, just pushing the envelope and adding to the knowledge base; while being happy to have a place to do it. Let the chainstay extension...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

Let the chainstay extension Let the chainstay extension be specified to position the BB. Let a steering tube extension be used to position the height of the handlebar clamp as dictated by required arm angle and bar choice. Let the grips onthe bars be flared according to taste. Flared gives...

    Let's talk front wheel removal

.. I'd like the chainstay Hello John, I respect your designs they are very well thought out. However I was wondering whether it is possible to actually have a dropout but move the pivot or rotation point and the RD hanger hanger to be just above the dropout as a press-fit or a...

    It arrived

CHAINSTAY EXTENSION attached you find a manufacturing drawing (metric or imperial) for an individual chain-stay extension. The extension length should be less than 100mm (4 inches). A smooth surface finish is important for the strength of this part. Be aware that you take full...

    internal gear hub ?

I had no issues fitting a I had no issues fitting a ?Shimano Alfine 8 IGH into a conversion kit. You might get away without a chain tensioner because the conversion kit has horizontal dropouts that should allow correct tension somewhere along it's length. I wouldn't worry too much about...

Search for a folding donor bike part 2

Jerrye, From what I Jerrye, From what I understand the movement from suspension should cause the Cruzbike triangle to rotate about the crank-wheel axis. So there should not be any significant impact on the drivetrain length. Even if there's a problem maybe a tensioner can sort it out...
