    Interesting Trainer

I'll ride in cold, I'll ride in wind, but I refuse to ride in rain if I don't have to. It's miserable and hard on your bike. But, you're right, riding inside sucks. Mark

Test ride...Marc's conversion finally rolling along!

Velomobile= out of my pricerange Raingear= It rains so infrequently here, it's better to wait for a better day and whine about it. Mark

    Interesting Trainer

Stuck inside on a rainy day. I was brousing through the Actionbent site and came across this trainer. It's pretty generic, with no tension adjustment, but for the money it seems like it might be a pretty good deal. Not much different than rollers for an upright, I suppose. Mark

Test ride...Marc's conversion finally rolling along!

Good report, Marc. The wheelspin has become less and less of an issue for me. I'm not sure if it's the weight loss, getting dialed into the gearing, or what, but I spin my front tire a lot less than I used to. I can get some slippage from time to time when I hit an expansion crack, or a...

    Poor Man's Silvio?

The only caveat I have for 24" frames with 650c wheels... They may not work well if you're long legged. I have to run my TFT out farther than I'd like, but I think I can live with it. I wouldn't want to run short cranks, I don't think. Mark

    Poor Man's Silvio?

The brake mount is temporary, but was pretty easy. I just bent a piece of aluminum strap. It's bolted to the kickstand plate and raises the caliper above the chainstays. It's bolted in two places; through the kickstand hole and the fender mount hole. It's not going to go anywhere, but it is...

    Silvio with Tendon/Joint Problems?

I waffle back and forth on the short cranks. I like the way they wind up fast in a sprint, but sometimes I want to plug in a tall gear and "rest" at a lower cadence. It just doesn't work that way with short cranks. At least, that's been my experience. I think if I were to stick to one, or the...

    Poor Man's Silvio?

Rainy day here in SoCal, so I worked on this bike some more. I made a temporary rear brake mount and it seems to work OK. I also installed a rear rack, dialed in the shifting a little and did a couple laps around the block. There's no denying the ride is a little harsher than the Silvio, but...

    new and improuved giant cruzbike

No, it doesn't work like that Peder. The only thing is; you could not go after Giant for your damages. As long as you have insurance, it doesn't matter how you hurt yourself. You're just out your deductible. Mark

    Silvio with Tendon/Joint Problems?

I've had knee problems from time to time, but nothing that's aggrivated by the Silvio. As much as it might seem like you have to flex your knees to turn the bike, the knees just don't bend that way. The hips are what allow you to turn the bike and they are quite flexible in that direction. Mark

    What recumbents should cops use?

    What recumbents should cops use?

I'll get booed for this, but I agree with Jon. Cops need uprights and they also need mountain bikes because they have to jump curbs, ride across country, down stairs, over obstacles.... Mark

Sofrider spotted in Florida bike shop

One of my fellw club members just got back from a trip to Florida. He told me he spotted a Sofrider in a bike shop there. I guess the owner is rather enthusiastic about Cruzbikes and was surprised that Bill knew about them, let alone knew somebody that owned/rode one. Mark
