    New Vendetta V20

Hard to tell without some real data. Have read there is up to a 40% savings of drafting with a DF bike. Might assume it would be the same, but since the V is so much more areo, there might be less. One thing for sure - it is not easy to to get "as close as possible" to another V. You feel as if...

    New Vendetta V20

Joseph - That is quite some speed you can generate! Way to go! Next plan: Mount front and rear facing cameras so you can record a mix together a nice video of it! Drafting a V: IT is almost unfair really, because a DF can't really get a decent draft off a V. Basically if they can't ride as fast...

    Larry's Ride report from 2015 12 hour Calvin's Challenge

I don't think the effect of the peleton is that much. In my testing, I can usually maintain 25mph on about 200 watts with those wheels. When I recently did a 100K on an enclosed track I was able to maintain close to 27 on about 230. So, I would say I had not stabilized yet, and in essence had...

    New Vendetta V20

Joseph - Second Rick's remarks. :) Eventually all DF's are victims to a V - feels so great to pass them almost effortlessly! (Ric has some great video footage of that) But, I like you, prefer the give and take, the ebb and flow - let them pass you every once in awhile and then return the favor...

    Vendetta finally tested

Yes, SRAM Apex are easy to do. I have a set of 150mm, and 140mm. I have not ridden on the 140mm very much, but intend to experiment with them this year. They may work better for flat TT than the mountains around here, but I am not really sure. I will post my results of my testing though when...

    Vendetta finally tested

Rick, I only hope that I can come there one day and ride them with you! Keep working on that Cruzbike Bunkhouse! Yes - Tarheel county - Actually Asheville Area. Biltmore House: Blue Ridge Parkway. Mount Mitchell, etc, etc

    Vendetta finally tested

Hey - Thanks: Matěj, now following you too - Nice to put that Starva name with the Cruzbike name/avatar. Sounds like a nice "upgrade" we can ask for on this forum: Matching Strava and Cruzbike entities! All these questions about seat angle, etc. Be sure to dial in your boom length, and leg angle...

    Larry's Ride report from 2015 12 hour Calvin's Challenge

Ratz, I've got room to carry 5 bottles and can easily go about 5-6 hours on them, but we decided I should only carry 2 to lighten the load and always take 1 every 25 miles and have one for backup. Of course I lost the backup on lap 3 - bummer. I'll need to improve the quiver to hold them better.

    Larry's Ride report from 2015 12 hour Calvin's Challenge

Thanks Lief, Abbott, Bruce, Ratz, Rick, Yes the hand-off did not go well, but the fault was mine - I told Gary I would call him when I was close, but my phone was not working and I just showed up on the horizon doing 25. Sorry about that Gary! All the other hand-offs went off great, plus there...

    Larry's Ride report from 2015 12 hour Calvin's Challenge

Thanks everyone. Here is a rather funny video clip I made (from actual footage shot while racing during the Calvin's 12 hour event) of how to NOT ride in a peleton. It is probably what helped me win. It was obvious that I did not know what I was doing so no one paid any attention to me. Notice...

    2104 Silvio for sale

Thanks for the Kudos. That is awesome idea - "Save the Silvio". I have never done one of those things (fund me, or whatever), but I guess it would be worth a try. What is your timeframe for raising the money you need for this emergency and how much do you "need"? I know those are kind of...

    2104 Silvio for sale

That sounds like a good price to me - I think without the wheelset someone should be interested in the $2700 range. I agree with Bob though - kind of a bad time to have to sell it. Be patient if you can and explore all possibilities to borrow money for it, etc. Had any other calls on it? Does it...

    Larry's Ride report from 2015 12 hour Calvin's Challenge

Finally done. I think it took me longer to compile all these memories than it did to create them: Enjoy: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gogpjf30fbmd824/2015%20Calvin%20ride%20report%20Larry%20Oslund.pdf?dl=0

    Calvin's Challenge

Thanks Jim - great write up and kudos to everyone on the "team" - I'll hopefully be submitting my ride report today, once I can get it through the editor! :)

    Calvin's Challenge

Here's are the rwgps files for both Calvin's loops. If you studied these before the race, you would at least know somewhat what you where up against. At least for the turns, but not the road conditions. 50.5-mile loop: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/55010 7 mile loop...

    My Journey Begins...

I have no history with Cyclops trains on Cruzbikes - Hopefully some others will chime in Ratz for one probably knows - since he appears to have experience with everything made for every type of bicycle. :) I don't think he ever sleeps! I would think since the trainers are designed to set the...

Can you give us a run down on the components it has on it? That might make it a little easier.

    Calvin's Challenge

SuperSlim - I think training at least 30 minutes at my threshold or beyond every other day really helped me with the matches part, but it did eventually zap me of energy. The last 2 hours of the race: it was hard to just keep it in the 21-22mph range, which is something I would do for recovery...

    2104 Silvio for sale

Man, I hope you get the money some other way as would be a shame to let it go. If I had the cash... but then I would be a dead man, cause my wife would "kill" me! Figuratively of course!

    Calvin's Challenge

Thanks everyone for your great support and encouragement. The Cruzbike team (plus Kevin) we had at this event was remarkable. We worked together well and had great results. Jeffrey, short loops - you are funny! :0 Most of the pictures above where at corners where Gary could park and get access...
