S40 Enroute: Did I choose right?

I enjoyed following along with your blog: "2021 Tour around the USA perimeter" https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=3d2&doc_id=23455&v=2YR Thanks for sharing, and I'm interested in how the V20 works for touring. I saw that you wrote a while ago: "I no longer believe the V20 can be used for...

Q45 or S40 for Loaded Touring Along the Danube Eurovelo?

...-70 lbs. The bike was superb on good roads but really was uncomfortable on rough roads. Dirt, gravel, forget it. My biggest problem was recumbutt. It plagued me every day for a year. I won't tour on the S40 anymore. I'm looking at ways to gear up my V20 for touring. It will still suck...

    Self-Supported Bike Camping on a Silvio 2.0?

...S40. I appreciated the S40's utility, but decided having both bikes was too redundant. I kept the S30 because the S40 gave me terrible recumbutt, while the S30 never has. If Cruzbike ever put out a limited batch of S30s built like the S40, I bet they'd sell fast, and I'd probably buy one...

Disadvantage of flat seats with the Q Series?

I switched the stock seat on my Q45 to a Thor mainly to reduce recumbutt for long trips. The angle. Of my Thor is about 35 degrees, which puts most of my weight on the back of the seat rather than on my butt. This has been a very successful move for me, maybe because I’m over 200lb. In regard...

S40 Enroute: Did I choose right?

I've always thought the Extrawheel trailer would be a great trailer for the V. It is single wheel, light and just carries a set of panniers.

S40 Enroute: Did I choose right?

You should do well on the S40 as you're not very heavy. I'm about 240 lbs and after a massive effort to reduce recumbutt, I was unsuccessful. I rode my S40 on a 11000 mile tour around the US and felt butt pain the whole way. I now use it as a part source for my V20, which I love and have no...

New Guy - lots of questions

...S40. For long rides V20c with the adjustable seat is the king of comfort, gives me better down-the-road visibility than the stock seat, no recumbutt, works great with the gearing you mention, and is pretty darned fast. That seat is also compatible with the Bacchetta Brain Box or Radical...

New Guy - lots of questions

...to you, personally I would say yes. Wicks sweat away better than the cushion and is more comfortable than just using the seat What about recumbutt? Do I want a Thor seat? Recumbent butt from what I have read is based more on a lower cadence which leads to cramping in the glutes (glutes are...

New Guy - lots of questions

Welcome to the tribe Lorenzo. I have some experience on a S40, but more on a V20 - however I learned on a Silvio 2.0 8 years ago which is pretty equivalent to the S40. My answers: Your chain length is determined by the length of your chainstay and also you gears. I am really short and ride a...

...derailleur stock mounting groove is not low enough for proper shifting with 50-34 and Sram Red Yaw FD? Do I want the Ventisit? What about recumbutt? Do I want a Thor seat? Do I want the light mount stub or is mounting on the handlebars OK? What about shoes? On a conventional road bike, I...

Recumbent "Off-saddle" aka Bridging Plank: More power to ya!

...I started Cruzbike, I would occasionally lift my butt and press hard enough to drive my neck & shoulders into the headrest. I pedal more smoothly now so this is less common for me. 2) To ease the recumbutt, lifting to get some blood flow down there. 3) To float over bumps, holes, RR tracks, etc.

Is a V20c suitable for my planned use?

Colin, my 2 cents, for what it's worth, is that the S40 'sounds like' it would better meet your specified needs. So, I would get the S40. Now, having said that, if after having tried out the S40, you for some reason feel that it is not meeting your expectations, put it up for sell here on the...

Is a V20c suitable for my planned use?

My son at the age of 39 gave me the same advice, if it speaks to you and you get enjoyment out of it, go for it. When I was younger I feel in love with a Lotus super 7 and then I went and purchased a box on wheels - always did regret that decision! Many thanks for the advice with a good story...

Is a V20c suitable for my planned use?

...that edgy experience I think only the V20 is going to scratch that itch. If you absolutely need to pull a small trailer with your Corgi in it, I don't see how it would be more difficult than doing it on an S40, and you most likely won't get recumbutt on the longer rides. So, I say go for it :)

Is a V20c suitable for my planned use?

...pull a small trailer on the occasions that I need to take our Corgi dog to a decent spot for an interesting sniff and pooh. I do do get recumbutt on the trike and the low position on the V20 looks good and feels right, albeit a bit edgy…. Therefore, my question is, is it better to go for an...

    2021 Q45 Seat Angle

@Robert Holler Is the 30 deg option for the Q45 available on a new purchase. I'm super comfortable on my V20. I have continuous recumbutt on my S40 (I tried everything). I do long tours and the S40 is just too painful. I wish I could get an S30, but with the current design. That would be my...

    Regret buying Thor seat?

I just got done riding RAGBRAI on my Q45 with the stock seat. I had it reclined to eliminate the recumbutt but after a couple of days my hips were sore from getting bounced around. Then I straightened it up and the RB came back. I had to stop about 20 miles from the end of the last day to...
