White Whale Spotted - S30 For Sale - MA

...made. You can read up on it in the threads. At the 30 degree angle, it’s upright enough to ride in the city but laid back enough to avoid recumbutt and be appropriate for long distance riding. I tricked this out for Randonneuring and rode PBP on it. You can see some videos of the bike and the...

    S40. Any good?

...coupled with the moveable bottom bracket design takes some practice but most riders get it pretty quickly. 2) some riders experience “recumbutt” on longer rides with the stock seat. If you experience this it can usually be resolved with either the Cruzbike carbon fiber seat or one from Thor...

    Going ultra on the S40?

...day, I rode 21 km in the park. I only fell once because my shoelaces got caught in the crank :D. I totally understand your worries about 'recumbutt' and other issues, but personally, I haven’t experienced any of that. My only advice is to give yourself time to adapt—don't jump straight into...

    Going ultra on the S40?

...make sense? Or do you usually commit to one platform, adapt your body as best as possible, and progress from there? 2. Reading this forum, recumbutt and hotfoot seem to be the most frequent sources of discomfort when riding a Cruzbike. Is it normal to be affected or is it just a fraction of...

    Going ultra on the S40?

My 2¢ The V20 has much better comfort for longer rides, especially >200K. The lower angle distributes more weight to your back, reducing "recumbutt". I, like many others, ride with my head & shoulders elevated (compared to the stock V20) for improved comfort and visibility, sacrificing some...

My Q45 mods for distance touring

I've made similar changes to my QX100. The seat is now nearly the same angle as my S40, and I've put the same handlebars I have on the S40 with a backwards facing 145mm stem. I switched the 155mm crank to 26/36. Loved actually using the small cogs for the first time in years, but pretty quickly...

    New to the scene

...back-to-back rides of 79 miles and 65 miles on the S40 with the stock seat and by the end of the 65 mile ride I had a pretty bad case of "recumbutt". I'll note that I did both of these rides with very little stopped time which undoubtedly contributed. I experienced the same thing with my...

    New to the scene

...needing to take a break, and more aero? Peer pressure was never even a consideration. Which brings me back to the topic. Saddle Sore or "recumbutt" is going to happen if you stay on any bike long enough. My legs were fine to keep me at a 30kph (18mph) pace for up to 8 hours on the flats but...

My Q45 mods for distance touring

Definitely a distance touring rig. Mounted a Blackburn front rack as a rear pannier rack and put two panniers on it. Zero recumbutt. Had to remain cognizant of my position on the seat. In the middle of my ride, I had slid down such that I was effectively laying on my back, staring at the sky and...

My Q45 mods for distance touring

...quick. The lower handlebars allow my arms to remain closer to my body. The recline on the seat takes the pressure off of my sit bones. No recumbutt. It feels as if there's less wind resistance, although this may just be my imagination. I took the rig out for a short 15 mile run to the grocery...

    Convert Q45 to ebike

...has taken a beating and some of the weldments have broken off. I'm trying to lose weight and if successful, I would like to move off the Q45 and back on the S40 again. I like the bike better but right now I can't handle the recumbutt. Oh, and when will Cruzbikes have AI integrated...

Turning the Back Bar around on My Q45

...this Q45 to be similar to my V2/K. With that bike, I had managed to get the seat to be cradled inside the frame, giving me both a great vantage for seeing the road ahead as well as being able to use the seat back power pedaling while avoiding recumbutt. I rode almost 10,000 miles on that bike.

    Convert Q45 to ebike

...They don't like doing onesie-twosie's. Not enough market for them. I've given up motorizing the Q45. My only problem with the S40 is the recumbutt, which is mostly due to my weight (230 lbs). My natural weight is around 165 lbs. Now with GLP-1 drugs, I may be able to get there if I can...

    Thor seat

...as a suspension and used a Ventisit 3mm cushion over that. It was pretty good, even after 2-1/2 hours of steady riding I had only a little recumbutt pain. The narrow back rest was quite noticeable though. With the Thor Carrier pan and matching Ventisit pad the seat pan is noticeably better...

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

I get no recumbutt on my V20, a little bit on my last generation S30, but it usually goes away after 15 minutes, and got it badly enough on my S40 that I had to sell it. I like my S30, but yeah, it's not really designed to carry much more than just the rider. I liked the flexibility built into...

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

I agree 100%. The perfect touring bike is an S40 that is 30 degrees (S30) The Silvio wasn't really set up for touring like the S40. I have converted my Q45 to be a 30 deg angle and it works well except it's 50 lbs with all the touring racks on it.

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

I have an older V20, no recumbutt, nor was it an issue on my S30 (recently destroyed in an accident). Recumbutt is an issue with my Q45 (after 30-40 minutes of riding), even with the seat lowered as much as possible. Have resorted to wearing padded shorts like the upright guys do. That seems to...

    Comfort on S40?

I agree - You will have less chance of recumbutt on an S40 since the angle is less - However, for those who still get it, I have found a little extra padding under the seat cushion also helps. As far as your neck goes - the S40 also has a neck rest which helps out. Please reach out to me at...

    Comfort on S40?

My S40 is quite comfortable. No recumbutt issues but I usually don't do rides over 40 miles on it. I did try a Ventist pad on it and found it to be too hard so I stayed with the thicker stock pad. I do use a Ventist on my V20 which I take on long, fast rides and I find it comfortable enough.
