From Garage Innovation to Road Revolution: The Six-Generation Evolution of the Cruzbike S40

Wait! You want a lighter S40 and yet you also want a kickstand? A lighter bike will make climbing mountains effortless? Uh, let's be clear - the weight of the rider far outweighs the bike by many times over. It seems like that would be the place to look at to reduce weight before an expensive...

unfortunately still zig zaging going occasionally

I've been using Catalyst pedals on my S40 for 2 months now and I like them. I can't say if they give me a more powerful stroke as they claim but they grip really well and are comfortable. I like them so much I ordered another set for my T50. It's nice to just jump on the bike without changing...

BRNW - 2026 - This will be one for the record books - We hope to see you there!

I'm familiar with some parts of the route around Corvallis and the climb up to Alsea Falls from Alpine is one tough son of a gun. I tried it once on a LWB bent I had at the time, towing a BOB trailer. I had to get off and walk because I was loosing steering control due to the front end getting...

Need help with S40 Gen 5 brifter

Thanks Jason, I gave that solution some thought but I had those inline cable adjusters on an Silvio 1.0 I had and they did not work very well. Woulda saved mucho $ though but the new derailleur will have the cage lock which the MS lacks.

Need help with S40 Gen 5 brifter

Just finished a ride with the SRAM Apex brifter and it's like a Swiss watch compared to the original Microsoft brifter. I'm getting the bike ready for the BRNW ride this June.

Need help with S40 Gen 5 brifter

Thanks Rojo, I have the Sram Apex brifter on the bike but now but I need cable adjuster for the derailleur. Microshift had one built into the brifter but the Apex doesn't have one there or on the mech. I cobbled something together by tapping threads into the mircoshift mech and using an mtb...

Need help with S40 Gen 5 brifter

I want to change the Microshift brifter on my Gen 5 S40 to something better. I don't like the derailleur housing exiting the left side of the brifter into the knee area, having to reach my index finger up to try to find the little upshift button and the shifting is not crisp. Will the SRAM Apex...

Advice on buying used vs new

My wife & I biked from WA DC on the C&O canal trail and the GAP on our recumbent tandem many years ago, before I got into Cruzbikes. There were 2 other bent riders along, a lady on an Easy Racers and a young guy on a trike. I wouldn't hesitate to ride the GAP today on a Cruzbike. I would choose...

third party racks, tyre choices et al for S40

Are you referring to a rear rack that could carry panniers or a bag? I ask because you mention a decathalon rack which is something I have never heard of. I found the best rack for my T50 and my S40 is the Blackburn Local Deluxe, a compact, inexpensive and highly adjustable rack that sadly is no...

    Riding a Cruzbike.

It's very unlikely that a totally carbon fiber Vendetta would reduce the overall weight by more than a pound. They only saved a little over half a pound with the CF front end. Robert has opined on this subject before. Because the center frame of the Cruzbike is not triangulated there is little...

    Clip-on mirrors

What works best for me on my V20 and S40 is to mount a pair of Zefal Spy mirrors on my brifters. These work perfectly and allow instant access to full rear coverage, much more than you would get with a clip on mirror and they're always in place, ready to use.

    Cycle computers

I'm still so old school that I haven't switched to a handlebar mounted GPS unit. The fact that I know where I'm going most of the time has kept me from switching plus the fact that a GPS unit is bulkier, thus less aerodynamic than my old, reliable Planet Bike Protege computer. The computer shows...

Looks like the air suspension fork has no pressure? Have you tried pumping it up to the 150 lbs recommended with a shock pump?

    T50 Cruzbike for sale - $800

I bought this bike for my wife and I plan to add an electric motor kit from Electric Bike Solutions. This should make learning how to ride a Cruzbike easier for her - something she has struggled with in the past. I have owned a T50 for years and so I'm familiar with the bike. This bike arrived...

    A very nice S40 review...

Leif, I didn't realize you did that video. Incredible photography. I was marveling over the drone shots as I watched it.
