    SofRider Bottom Bracket Replacement?

I am suffering from a loud creak in my Sofrider drive chain following a recent tour. I've cleaned and reinstalled my cleats and pedals to no avail, so am now changing out my bottom bracket, with the intention of replacing the current bottom bracket with a new, sealed cartridge. I bought a...

MI Cruzbike retreat 2020 - August 6-9, 2020 Benton Harbor Michigan

...the natural bend at the head tube as you power onto the fork drive. its not perfect, as when you are powering on hard, you can hear some creak, but i don't think i am losing power because the drive is in front and the creak is in back. i need to get a much wider front tire, as the 451-19 is...

    Squeak

Oh the impossible to track down noises. My wife had a squeak that came from her shoes/cleats. I had a creak in my V20 last year that took me most of the year to figure out. Drove me crazy. I took everything apart multiple times, greased it all, used assembly compound, looked for cracks, swapped...

    Creaking front end

I had a nut come off the front of the seat and didn’t notice. The creak was driving me crazy, but I didn’t initially check the seat because it didn’t sound like it was coming from that area.

    Creaking front end

I had a broken spoke inside a nipple in the drive wheel, and was convinced the creak was in the rear wheel!!

    Creaking front end

Spokes!?! I had the most annoying creak (that's an exact description, it absolutely sounded like metal working against another piece of metal). Just like yours, especially pedaling, and especially under load. Went through everything, just like you, then someone on this fine forum suggested...

    Creaking front end

When does it creak? When you put weight on the seat, start braking, stop braking, apply power, lean in a turn, hit a crack in the road, etc. Try greasing (waxing?) the fork / chainstay / RD connections and tighten the skewer. It doesn't sound like fenders, but try putting some tape wherever...

    Creaking front end

On last week's audax a creak started developing at the front end of my new S40. Last night I took a look at it an nipped up the handlebar clamp, boom clamp and chainstay clamp (that one was quite loose). I'm assuming that was just stuff moving/settling in after the first 500km. Today on a...

    Replacement Fork?

Right, but if you start hearing an odd creaking, especially when applying pedal force, consider this joint. I struggled for weeks with a creak I hated, and finally fixed it by taking this joint apart and greasing it with Phil Wood. The fact is that these bikes we love have frames made of...

Clicking noise on my new V

Thread like this tend towards selection-bias. For the most part you shouldn't have clicks and creaks. Basing that on the 16 frames that have passed through my garage; and the 8 we had on RAAM; if there's a "clicking" sound there's a solution. Just depends on your level of tolerance and...

    New to Cruzbike

I can definitely recommend the emeljay steering mod. Makes for a solid front end that doesn't creak. It would be cool if Cruzbike would offer a conversion kit consisting of the tube and appropriate clamps. I used the front slider to support the seat and lower the seat. Spacers were used so...

...was a fun ride and I did get to push my heart rate off the charts on a couple climbs. Man, I really have to work on that. I developed a weir creak in the front end when under power, so investigated that. I had one crank arm that wasn't as snug as I like them. I cleaned everything and...

    QX100 Steering Mod

...with spacers to insure that the slider yoke is not stressed by clamping the seat QR. The straight boom setup is solid, stiff, and does not creak. Time will tell how well the headrest holds up, but I do like having flex. Current setup allows sitting almost straight up, a very nice position...

    Squeaking on Silvio 1.5 - suggestions ?

Yesterday's creak data collection run was preempted by rain so I took the boom off and cleaned the parts with Pledge; it was as close as I could get to furniture polish. Put it all back together and no squeaks on today's ride. Thank you, MrSteve. One of the joys of riding Silvio 30 is how...

    Squeaking on Silvio 1.5 - suggestions ?

I had a binary choice yesterday afternoon; ride or work on bike...hmmm...I think I need to collect more creak data...ride that sucker. When the bike creaks I can feel it in the bars and the sound seems to originate in the boom/slider. When I get round toit, first I will disassemble the...

Don't forget those pesky spokes, I am an obese rider on less expensive wheelsets. creaks happen.

For my bike this is about greasing the boom, slider and associated clamps, but unfortunately there are many possible causes.

Remove drive wheel, verify front end does not fall apart without the wheel, if it does the front triangle is not square and needs to be aligned correctly. If the nose is square check for loose spokes which are always a cause of noise only when under power Failing those two tighten the headset stack
