Internal Hub and Belt on a QX100

...The efficiency of Nuvinci is even worse. The efficiency of the Alfine 11 is between 87% and 93%, the efficiency of the Rohloff is between 92% and 97%. Both, Shimano 11 and Rohloff use an oil-bath. There is a huge difference beween the Shimano 11 speed 50W and 200W efficiency...

Internal Hub and Belt on a QX100

Forgot to mention, that the high torque, which is caused by the rohloff, must be hold by the frame. The efficiency is higher than other internal hubs: https://fahrradzukunft.de/16/wirkungsgradmessungen-an-nabenschaltungen/ The Shimano 11-speed hub is a good alternative. It seems, that Shimano...

Internal Hub and Belt on a QX100

The Rohloff is German Technology at its best: extremely well built, spare parts are available for nearly ever, detailed service information. I've got one from 2003 on my up and I love it! There were quite some problems with the Shimano 11-speed.

    First 1000 Km!

...to gearing, I've stuck with the stock 11 speed setup. I'd love to have a few higher speed gears, and have investigated a few options (Rohloff, Alfine 11, adding a front derailleur, etc) but with the general shortage of bike parts these days I've not come across anything that is attractive...

Hi Mattew, great questions!! re flat tires, I have now fully transitioned to Gaadi tubes ( https://gaadi.de/?page_id=3671&lang=en ) which makes the process a lot easier. As far as the Extra wheel is concerned, I am an amateur beekeeper here in Sydney and I use the Extra-Wheel mainly to get...

Rohloff, belt drive, and best CB touring model will probably be my next transition. Your set-up looks great. I know you know this but more lights in back at slow strobe is better. Not brighter, just more. As I was (slowly) doing the 6-hour Bessies Creek TT here in Houston, TX area I was passed...

Thanks for sharing your adventure. Is flat tire repair troublesome with the Rohloff? Why aren’t you using your Extrawheel?

Tinkering with Gear-shift & Brake Levers...

Hi bladderhead, I don't know much about Rohloff, but the sram gripshift was made to suit my gear and works well. The Soma bar angles out a little at the bottom and gives me no leg issues at all. Mudguards might be a bit of a luxury here in Australia - I don't get enough rain (or snow) to...

Tinkering with Gear-shift & Brake Levers...

Shifter looks cool. You could do that with a Rohloff. But I tried downward bar-ends and they poked me in the legs. Bike looks clean. That will not last. No mudguards.

My Very First Recumbent is a V20

...earliest made. I think that when I ordered it the production line was not set up. Unlike the one in the picture, mine has disk brakes, a Rohloff and Meks forks. I think they were all new ideas at the time. Indeed it is a wagon. It has the biggest Radical bags. I have carried massive...

Looks like I'm gonna be an S40 owner Friday!

...will not effect the steering. The weight at the BB effects the steering, so IGH is good, because a single chainwheel is light. I could not fit a Rohloff in the forks of my Silvio. I think I was one of the first to put XX1 on a Cruzbike, which I did because I cannot stand a double chainwheel.

Internal Hub and Belt on a QX100

thanks for the information and for sharing your knowledge. I have spent some time checking efficiency and it is very hard to justify a Rohloff. I'm leaning towards the Alfine 11 speed now.

Internal Hub and Belt on a QX100

I've run a Sturmey-Archer 8-sp hub for 4500 miles so far and it's treated me pretty well. 315% range which isn't as good as a Rohloff or a Kindernay, but for gear inches per £ (or $) then it's excellent. Chain tensioner is a Surly Singleator. 1:1 is actually 1st, so you'll want to plan what your...

Internal Hub and Belt on a QX100

Thanks for all the information. I gave up on the Belt system, but I'm really considering the Rohloff Hub. Does anybody knows any bike shop that is familiar with Cruzbikes and build wheels? I need to get an idea of the price of the package as the Rohloff seems to be quite expensive. Appreciate...

Yeah, the All Axel Hub set-up looks like the business! Back-achya for the battery info :) In the tradition of a dyed in the wool bike nut, I have another option, don't we all? I have just reconditioned an Extra Wheel trailer https://extrawheel.com/ ...thinking of putting the whole setup on that...

Thanks for the Rohloff info. Grin Tech (ebikes.ca) would have been my 1st choice to buy the kit from. I was not sure how the Q45 would do, so went with a cheaper option. I will be buying a few things from them soon. The Sempu Torque sensing bottom bracket, the Cycle Analyst 3 and the...

I have a couple of posts on my Rolhoff setup that might interest you. I drove m'self nuts calculating the correct chainline between chain ring and rear cogs. Just use a straight edge....Doh! I used the Shimano Zee bottom bracket set up. While I'm here. As I progress into dotterage, I will...
