Thank you so much for answering my question, it's greatly appreciated.

    llavalle's A4X Build

...a MTB HG but if I want to go Shimano 12 speed or Sram 12 speed with a 10teeth cog, it wouldn't work. I'm also contemplating going with a Rohloff hub drive which is a no go if the hub is up front! And lastly : wiring. The battery is likely to be on the back, under the bike or somewhere...

    S40 E-wheel options????

...The short chain may give you chain alignment issues in some of the external gears. The internal geared hub solves that and the Nexus 8 speed is durable enough for the motor to not break it. You could also use an Enviolo hub. Or if you got the bucks a Rohloff 14 speed that are built really tough.

    Dbl chainring

The issue I see is that when you swap chainrings with the button, you need to change about 6 gears. Thisis fine if you have a hub like a rohloff , but wouldnt fancy it with the default SRAM shifters as that is 6 clicks which takes time, and not something you want to do when losing speed...

    Convert Q45 to ebike

I have Quest 2.0 with quick release and a Bafang motor. I am not in agreement that Cruzbike has to follow other bike makers and use thru axles. I would not myself except maybe on the v20. It is not an engineering decision, it is a marketing decision. Since recumbent bikes are in decline...

New to me Old T50 frame to build. A few questions.

...tube was after removing. Just used a seatpost shim in place there. Not worried to much on weight with this build as I'm dropping 1.5 lb a week with current process of getting back fit and watching diet. Would live the clean internal hub design, but hill around us would likely need a full...

    Convert Q45 to ebike

Trust me - the "standards" that are more and more rapidly evolving nowadays - as we get more and more into higher tech materials/processes - is really maddening to me as a product manager. Because the second something becomes the "new normal" there is already new stuff on the horizon that seeks...

    Convert Q45 to ebike

...a Cruzbike. I'm hoping that someone will come out with a conversion kit that will change a thru-axle to a QR. That would solve the problem. I haven't found one yet. I was relieved when Rohloff speedhub came up with a conversion for thru-axles, but it's costly and complicated. But it works.

    Convert Q45 to ebike

...disappointed I am that Cruzbike decided to go with thru-axles on the new S40 and Q45 bikes. It's hell finding ebike conversions for them and it was very expensive and difficult to do a Rohloff conversion on my Q45. What was ever wrong with QR axles? I used them all my life with no issues...

Replace Q45 Shock with Metal Bar

Nope. I can push against the seat just fine. I have a Thor Carrier seat. I didn't replace the seat post with a straight one. I just turned it around 180 degrees. I also replaced the handlebars with S40 bars. I also replaced my drive train with a Rohloff Speedhub.

    Sofrider questions

...my weak muscles). The DF that I have has over 500%, and I'm considering changing the 28T chainring to a 24T. If I went for an IGH I think a Rohloff would be great... but my accountant is making strained sounds at the price. Which again raises the question whether front wheel slippage is...

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

...mine on and the under seat rack was hit by something and the weldments broke off. I had to wire the rack on with steel wire. I added a Rohloff speed hub to my Q45 and I'm very happy with it. From now on, it's the only way I'll tour. It is expensive and requires a local bike shop to...

    Convert Q45 to ebike

I am considering electrifying my Q45 and will follow your progress. I was about to email Grin, but will see what you come up with first. A friend has used them on a DF conversion and she was very pleased with the service.

    Convert Q45 to ebike

Thanks Robert. I can't do a rear motor up front as I have a Rohloff speedhub. I'm still hoping for Grin Technologies as they have thru-axle front wheel options on their website. Unfortunately, I'm looking for a 250W motor and their front thru-axle versions on the website are 500W-1000W. I...

Does anyone else have a design Wishlist for the next model of Q series?

Most gravel here is too loose for traction with stock width tires. I struggle to climb with 2.25” knobby tires on my MTB! Then, there’s the fine sand and clay…

    Pinion gearbox

I have become much more adept at shifting the Rohloff but I still can't shift fast enough to get up one of my most steep and sudden hills. If I start in high gears to keep the momentum up, I can't get shifted down fast enough to be in the lower gear needed to finish off the hill. If I start in...

    Pinion gearbox

Can confirm. Even with a budget Sturmey-Archer 8sp, you learn to shift early and shift often. You don't wait until you need to shift, you go a second or 2 early so the slightest moment of off-pressure gives you the space and time to down-shift. I like to think I was reasonably OK at that seeing...

    Pinion gearbox

FWIW, just like learning to ride a CB takes some miles, it’s similar for the Rohloff. You will get used to it, as there’s a brief point in pedaling where the pressure is low and *click* you twist shift. Riding my ICE Sprint trike up the Rockies, Ozarks and Appalachians with the Rohloff were easy...

    Pinion gearbox

I had no idea when I started this process that I would have to back off peddling to shift. I find that a serious disadvantage, especially when climbing very steep hills where you have to downshift rapidly while trying to keep your momentum going. I expect I will get better at it over time, but...
