    Q45 in Germany

...degrees with the seat angle, I no longer have any problems. Befor that my limit was 30 minutes. By turning the seat post, I can ride the Q45 pretty much exactly at 30 degrees and recumbutt is not an issue. The possibility of adjusting the seat was another reason for choosing the Q45 over...

I agree completely. However, still working through recumbutt which is limiting my range to 2 hours.

    Q45 in Germany

Turned the seatpost and preloaded the spring. Seat angle is at about 30 degree. No problems with recumbutt. Feeled quite good. Handlebar needs further adjustment. 32km today, 73km total. I love my Q45.

...so high but it looks like I’m really seating much more forward (and thus reclined) than most riders. So for me the main point of contact is on the coccyx, lower than you; but I don’t have recumbutt so I reckon my weight is quite evenly spread (riding a V1.0 and a S2.x with original flat seats).

Does anyone else have a design Wishlist for the next model of Q series?

...up with my desired components. I also have an S40 that I built up from a frame. I couldn't, with herculean effort, make the S40 not cause recumbutt. The frame now sits in my garage without purpose. I bought the Q45 frame for one reason only, to recline the seat to about 30 or so degrees...

    Q45 Build photos

I'll check out the OMM rack when my Q45 arrives and let you know what I learn. I saw a different post regarding your lesson learned on the under seat rack, so thanks for that reminder. As for the seat, that's a TBD - recumbutt will be new to me so we'll see how I deal with it.

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

Question for those who have "laid back" their seat on a Q45: Have anyone considered or attempted lowering where the boom mounts to the steer tube? Looks like this would require shortening the steer tube to lower where the boom mounts.

modifying S40 to lower seat angle?

...with a Thor Carrier seat, which brings the V20 back up the perfect height for me so I'm comfortable sitting up but not so high as to cause recumbutt. If you are just looking for a road bike, the V20 with a Thor seat is the lighter, faster option. If you want to attach bags, you'll want...

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

Yes. I checked out all your posts before embarking on this mission. Once I have it assembled and working, I'll do a photo review and post it on the forum. I appreciate all the people who have done this work and gave me ideas.

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

You are doing pretty much what I did on my Q45 - turned the seat post around & I’ve got my Thor seat at about 34 degrees. Pretty much totally eliminated the recumbutt. I love it. Here’s a picture:

...with different types of padding around the sides and front of the seat area. https://forum.cruzbike.com/threads/optimizing-fit-eliminate-recumbutt-hot-foot.14642/#post-176239 I have done a couple of 65 mile rides and plan to do longer rides. Maybe a 65 mile gavel this Saturday. My ventisit...

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

I assume you meant "Ventist". Damn spell checker, I did the same as you and it helped but didn't eliminate the recumbutt. I add extra cushion inside the ventist. I find that Yoga mat material works well. But, after many seats, cushions, orientations, I found no suitable solution for the...

Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

For me the S40 solution was to extend the small platform as far as possible, and I added another layer of foam (kind of a medium density) that I shaped into a bit of a "wedge" to provide more padding overall but also a bit more of a "lip" up front to "hold me in" so to say. That can get me a...

...Velcro. It held together fine, but it was not a great solution. It was an act of desperation, before I left for the tour, to eliminate recumbutt. It did help but I still had recumbutt most every day. After much effort, I still have not found a solution for the S40, hence, the purchase of...

...home the duffel, I added a little back over time and mostly had about 70 lbs or so. The S40 held up well. Only complaint was daily recumbutt. I kept a daily blog with photos here: https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=3d2&doc_id=23455&v=2YR I just received my Q45 frame, which I am...

    New Buyer Advice - S40 versus Q45?

How about buying a used Q45, put the Thor seat on, and adjust the seat angle to lower than 40 deg?

    New Buyer Advice - S40 versus Q45?

Any update on this thread? I too suffer from recumbutt on my s40. I replaced the stock seat with a Thor Carrier seat and I think it made it worse as I sit up even more. I did lots of padding variations. I don't even ride it anymore after doing an 11K mile tour. I've been considering the Q45...

    Mullet?

More about mullets: @Black Hawk Down shared his experience. Like me, he prefers the 20% seat angle of the Vendetta that reduces recumbutt during long rides, but he wanted a wider fork to accommodate fat tires. He successfully put an S40 front triangle on a V20 frame (and bearings.) This...

    Looking for an S40 seat

...made to fit so there is no cutting of tabs or altering the frame in any way but the seat pan just wasn’t contoured enough for me and caused recumbutt on longer rides. My Thor seat eliminated that issue and it provides great support on the back and in the seat area that works well for me but...

    Regret buying Thor seat?

...for me. As stated by others, sets my upper body up a little higher but I will sacrifice that for more comfort and it totally eliminated my recumbutt. I have broad shoulders so I’m not very aero to begin with and the amount of comfort I gained from switching to the Thor has been worth it. I...
